‘American Pickers’: Frank Fritz Hints at His Replacement as the Long-Time Co-Host Departs From the Show

Fans of American Pickers are still coming to terms with the fact that Frank Fritz won’t be back on the show. Rumors started swirling about his departure during the final eight episodes of the 21st season. Then, when the 22nd season started without Fritz earlier this year, the chatter got a little louder. On Wednesday, fans got the official announcement that Frank would not be digging through barns and garages with Mike Wolfe anymore.

Frank Fritz had to take a break from the show due to some health issues. After years of lifting heavy items, his back was a mess. So, instead of dealing with the constant pain, Frank had back surgery. In a recent interview with The Sun, Fritz said that he hadn’t spoken to his partner in picking for over two years. That wasn’t all he said about his departure from the show, though. In fact, he had plenty to say.

At one point during the interview, Frank said that he was pretty sure he knew who would replace him.

Who Will Replace Frank Fritz?

Frank Fritz said that it would be hard to get back in the van after not speaking to Mike for so long. Who could blame him? He was dealing with a serious issue and recovering from surgery and didn’t hear a word from Wolfe. That alone is enough to breed some resentment. However, Fritz said that he thinks there is another reason that Mike never reached out. In his mind, Wolfe is ready to replace him.

“I think Mike wants to get his brother Robbie in there to replace me,” Frank told The Sun. He went on to say that he doesn’t understand why Mike is behaving the way he is.

Their chemistry was a big part of what made the show a hit. Sure, seeing all of the interesting finds was nice. However, viewers could just watch Antiques Roadshow for that. It was the comradery between Frank Fritz and Mike Wolfe that viewers really tuned in to see. Frank knows that too.

“You couldn’t just stick two people in a van and get the chemistry you get from me and Mike,” Fritz told the publication. He went on to say that he and Wolfe have known each other for around 40 years. “We can finish each other’s sentences,” he added, really driving the point home.

Frank Fritz continued, saying, “When everybody is getting along and there’s no drama, me and him are very good together.”

American Pickers won’t be the same without Frank Fritz. However, it looks like the show is still going strong. Right now, the series features Mike Wolfe with a revolving cast of guest pickers. At this time, showrunners have not announced Fritz’s replacement.
