American Pickers star Danielle Colby makes a tidy sum from her role on the show. But she’s pulling down less than her male counterparts.
Colby, the taskmaster and den mother of American Pickers, makes about $15,000 an episode. But after taxes, Reality Star Facts believes Colby makes just below $300,000 for a season. Not a bad deal considering she still picks in her free time and earns money through her burlesque troupe as well.
However, Frank Fritz, her former co-star, makes $300,000 a year. And Mike Wolfe, her boss and show creator, makes about $500,000, it’s been reported. The discrepancy likely stems from the fact that Wolfe, along with being the American Pickers creator, also serves as an executive producer.
Like Mike, Colby has diversified herself and has multiple revenue streams. Along with her money from the show, she is also an avid collector and restorationist for vintage costumes. Colby at one point also owned an antique shop and was a clothing boutique manager.
“Honestly, I love my work so much I pretty much only work,” she told Freshly Inked Magazine in 2019. “I mean, I work in the entertainment industry with burlesque, the costuming industry with burlesque, the vintage industry with American Pickers, I travel to pick constantly, I really don’t have much time for hobbies.”
“So it’s a good thing that I really love my work, I’m constantly designing costumes or repairing vintage costumes, I think that takes up most of my time outside of American Pickers and Antique Archaeology,” she added. “The other thing I really enjoy is reading.”
‘American Pickers’ Colby Has Stood By Her Friend
Colby only spoke on the topic directly once. She posted a photo to Instagram of her and Mike on a picking trip where she said she stood behind his decisions.
“Out on the road again with my best friend and my big brother whose I support fully and stand behind. Thank you for the last decade of advocacy towards myself and others on set,” she wrote. “@mikewolfeamericanpicker I’m proud of how you have handled the last 12 years and look forward to many more years of rolling around this big blue marble together.”
American Pickers producers fired Frank Fritz during the hiatus between seasons 21 and 22, which premiered last month. He needed back surgery and had a stint in rehab for his drinking problem. But said he always expected to return to the show. Colby wished Frank well in her post, and said she hoped he got the help he needed.
“I wish things could have been different but we must be accountable for our actions when we cause instability or pain and suffering to others,” she wrote. “Frank caused so much pain for himself that it has been hard to watch.”
