It’s official – History Channel’s hit series American Pickers will be making its way back to Mississippi in February 2022.
According to The Oxford Eagle, Mike Wolfe and his American Pickers crew are filming episodes of the hit series throughout Mississippi at the beginning of 2022.
American Pickers premiered on the History Channel on January 18, 2010. The series has a total of 22 seasons and 325 episodes. The show was created by and stars Mike Wolfe. He and his former co-star Frank Fritz would travel around the U.S. to buy or pick various items for resale, for clients, or for their own personal collections. Wolfe works alongside Danielle Colby, who runs the office of his business, Antique Archaeology from Le Claire, Iowa and Nashville, Tennessee.
Mike Wolfe Reveals How ‘American Pickers’ Became a Series
During a 2011 interview with Go-Star, Mike Wolfe shared more details about how American Pickers became a series. “I pitched the show for five years. Before then, I was always on the road finding great stuff.”
The American Pickers star revealed that he shared some of his experiences with friends. “They said, ‘You should buy a video camera.’ So I did. I put it on the dash and talked into it as I drove around. I made videos and posted them on my website. With those videos, I started pitching the concept, and I finally sold it to the History Channel. It was a five-year process.”
When asked about the collections he has seen that really blew him away, the American Pickers castmate said he met a judge in Florida that had a collection of petrobilia, signs, and gas pumps. The guy had his stuff piled on top of each other.
“For me, I want to know why people go down this path Why they buy all high-quality stuff. For this guy, it was because he worked in a gas station when he was 13. Just that one experience changed his path. That’s what interests me. I go in, and people have one hundred or one thousand of one thing. And it’s the back story that is intriguing to me.”
Mike Wolfe on a Potential ‘American Pickers’ Spin-Off
While also chatting with Go-Star, Mike Wolfe spoke about a potential American Pickers spin-off. “We have talked about it. The History Channel is now filming Canadian Pickers, which will be shown on History Canada. They show American Pickers on History now.”
Wolfe goes on to add that the one reason why he came up with the American Pickers name and the show’s format was so it can down elsewhere as well. “History Channel owns the name and the show so it can be delivered in any country. I don’t know how far they’ll take it.”
