While a lot of people might believe they know what “American Pickers” is truly about, show host Mike Wolfe sets the record straight.
“Every object has a story,” Wolfe said in a 2019 interview with the Des Moines Register. “And that story is reflective of a family, or of a place, or of a time, or of a moment. So it’s a show about all of us. It’s reflective of all of us.”
Wolfe is right about that point, Outsiders. Anyone who has spent an iota of time watching “American Pickers” knows how important those antiques and collectibles are to those that own them. Why? Because it’s like Wolfe said. Every single object shown on the show has a story attached to it.
Let’s say you have a book or piece of art that is in your home. Did you buy it or was it passed down within your family? No matter your answer, there is a story connected to it. Stories add fabric to those items on “American Pickers.”
‘American Pickers’ Star Opened Up More About Missing Frank Fritz
Many people tuning into new “American Pickers” episodes are watching but maybe still hold a grudge against Wolfe over Frank Fritz.
As a lot of Outsiders know, Fritz was fired from the show in 2021 after being one of its original hosts. Wolfe caught a lot of flack from Fritz directly and fans, too.
Wolfe, though, has opened up a little more recently about the whole situation.
He went on Instagram and posted about Fritz’s departure. Wolfe concluded with these words: “I will miss Frank, just like all of you, and I pray for the very best and all good things for him on the next part of his journey.”
But “American Pickers” fans shrugged off those comments. Yet it appears Wolfe may have been justified in his words.
“We all do care about Frank and we want him back on the show,” Wolfe told The Sun recently. “I would love to talk with him again, we would absolutely love to, but he just can’t get it right. It’s unfortunate that he’s made decisions that have him the way he is.”
Fritz Dealt With Substance Abuse, Other Health Issues In His Life
Fritz has battled substance abuse issues, specifically alcoholism. He admitted that after a year of being sober, he had a relapse. Now back and focused on his health, Fritz had been taking Wolfe and raking him over the coals about everything.
Fritz claimed he and Wolfe hadn’t talked in two years even while hosting “American Pickers” on TV. But it might be that Fritz was dealing with a lot of other issues, too. He took a break from the show for health reasons, including back surgery.
