Mike Wolfe has seen pretty much everything during his years searching for rusty gold. Heck, the American Pickers star has stared down the gun barrel of a less-than-welcoming property owner. One time early on in the show’s run, he found himself stuck in a tiny shed.

If that wasn’t enough, the shed belonged to American Pickers legend Hobo Jack. He recalled Wolfe’s acrobatic escape fondly. To set the scene, we have to go all the way back to Season 2 of the hit History Channel series. The episode titled “Hobo Jack” aired in August of 2010.

It found Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz exploring the Litchfield, Illinois property of the one and only Hobo Jack, otherwise known as Backwoods Jack or his given name, Jack Sophir. His sprawling collection was hidden underneath tarps and various sheds. Much of it hadn’t seen the light of day in years. That’s when Mike Wolfe decided he was going to check out the contents of a long-forgotten shed.

The American Pickers star gave his honored guest Hobo Jack the floor during an opening celebration for his Nashville-based Antique Archaeology store. Jack used the opportunity to paint the picture of Wolfe’s great shed escape.

“The new show—I hope you get this on there—you somersaulting out of the window of a shed, that’s going to really make the whole program,” said Jack.

“I crawled into a shed on Hobo Jack’s property, and I couldn’t get out. So I, like [Jack] said, somersaulted out of the window. In fact, I was getting into places that you hadn’t been in in a long time. You were picking with us,” Wolfe elaborated.

Hobo Jack Said ‘American Pickers’ Star Mike Wolfe Has A Nose for Motorcycle Parts

Anyone who’s spent any time watching American Pickers knows Mike Wolfe is after one thing and one thing only. Okay, that would sort of defeat the purpose of the show. But there is one thing he prizes above all others, and that’s everything to do with classic motorcycles.

Mike Wolfe is a total gearhead, and we wouldn’t have it any other way. Some of the biggest buys in American Pickers history have been for original 1920s Indians. It’s safe to say Wolfe is an expert when it comes to locating bike stuff.

Hobo Jack had a front-row seat to Mike Wolfe’s mind-blowing motorcycle-seeking skills.

“Mike has a way of finding things. It’s almost like he can smell motorcycle parts. I didn’t know I even had them! I’d had them so long. I’d forgotten they were even there,” Hobo Jack continued during the 2011 Antique Archaeology opening event.

Jack didn’t even know he had the old motorcycle parts on his property, and Mike Wolfe still tracked them down. There’s a man willing to tumble out of a shed window to find a good pick.
