It seems like American Pickers star Danielle Colby is always willing to lend a helping hand when the time calls for it. And the current situation down in New Orleans is most certainly one of those times.
We know and love Danielle Colby from her time on the History Channel series, American Pickers. She has been appearing on the show since it first started back in 2010. In addition to being known for her role on the show (working in the office of the antique shop Antique Archaeology), Colby is also known for her distinct looks. The inked-up actress is in the middle of production of the show’s 11th year.
But with the destruction of Hurricane Ida down south, Danielle Colby has more on her mind than just the show. She took to social media on Friday to share a story involving her daughter.
“A few years ago I took my daughter @lolahbearxo to New Orleans for her birthday,” Colby begins her post. “I had been there several times and was so excited to finally be able to share the experience with her. New Orleans is such a special city, full of history and culture. You can feel the magic pulsing in her veins.”
‘American Pickers’ Star Knows How Destructive a Hurricane Can Be
For those who don’t see things up close and personal, it’s easy to put a hurricane and its aftermath in the back of our minds. But Danielle Colby has seen the destruction of a major hurricane first-hand.
“I remember when Hurricane Katrina hit and the absolute devastation that was wrought afterward,” Colby explained. “The people of New Orleans were left to fend for themselves, completely ignored by the government. They received no help when they needed it the most. I’ve seen firsthand the devastation that can occur after a hurricane.”
That’s why she says that she is going to involve herself. The American Pickers star wants to be on the front lines, helping lead an effort to get people to donate to those in need.
“I knew after Hurricane Maria that I needed to get involved with disaster relief efforts. I’ve added a few infographics for places to donate. It will be weeks before power is fully restored to Louisiana and people need help. If you’re able to donate at all please check out these resources!”
If you have any interest in helping out Danielle Colby, make sure to follow her on Instagram. That is the main platform she turns to when asking for help from her fans.
