America’s Got Talent: Extreme just faced disaster when daredevil Jonathan Goodwin’s stunt went horribly wrong. Goodwin, whose one of the many contestants hoping to win the first season of the spinoff, wound up severely injured. Now, a shocking video has emerged of the event.

The accident, which involved to suspended cars, put Goodwin in the hospital. The daredevil faced horrific injury when smashed between the two suspended cars.

People confirmed that the stunt performer got seriously injured in the accident. America’s Got Talent: Extreme is a spin-off series that’s been filming. The accident occurred during a rehearsal round. NBC has described the new spinoff as “the most outrageous, unique and jaw-dropping acts of enormous scale and magnitude that simply cannot be confined to a theater stage.”

But unfortunately, these acts come with extreme risk. Goodwin’s previous stunts on AGT have gone off without a hitch. But carefully coordinated escapes like this need perfect execution every single time or disaster will strike.

“During a rehearsal last evening for America’s Got Talent: Extreme, an accident occurred in which escape artist Jonathan Goodwin was injured while performing his act,” a spokesperson for the spinoff told People. “He was responsive and was immediately taken to the hospital where he is continuing to receive medical care. Our thoughts and prayers go out to him and his family as we await further updates on his condition.”

The ‘America’s Got Talent: Extreme’ Stunt Involved Two Suspended cars and a Straightjacket

Goodwin planned an ‘America’s Got Talent: Extreme’ stunt to wow the audience. According to TMZ, who first reported the incident, Goodwin suspended in the air at 70 feet up in a straight jacket and hung from his feet by some wire. He had to escape two swinging cars, but they collided with him in between them.

Goodwin intended to make it underneath the cars before they collided, but he didn’t have the exact right timing. Following the collision of the two cars, TMZ alleges that the stunt man fell from the height. Production had him rushed to the hospital where he underwent immediate surgery.

Goodwin was a contestant on America’s Got Talent season 15. He made it to the semi-finals and performed in front of celebrity judges Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum, Howie Mandell, and Sofia Vergara.

Fans loved his incredibly creative and daring escapes. NBC has appointed Cowell to judge America’s Got Talent: Extreme alongside motocross star Traves Pena and WWE star Nikki Bella. It’s unclear how this incident will affect the show moving forward.

The escape artist and daredevil hails from Wales and is 41 years old. His current status remains unknown.
