“America’s Got Talent” has been delighting fans of the popular series for just over 15 years now.
The popular talent search reality-show series has become a regular staple on NBC. Especially during the summer months as viewers are looking for something new before the fall season premieres begin.
Since its premiere, “America’s Got Talent,” has found success fairly easily. And, with that, there’s very little doubt that “America’s Got Talent” will be returning for its seventeenth season. However, according to recent rating reviews, the popular show has seen better days as it has been facing some all-time season lows in recent weeks.
According to TVLine, “America’s Got Talent” pulled in 6.6 million viewers this week. However, the popular talent show saw an increase in viewership Tuesday evening; increasing over the prior week from a 34 percent dip to a fifty-one percent increase.
An Unusual Ratings Dip For The Popular Show
“America’s Got Talent” hasn’t seen numbers this drastic since earlier this summer. The show dipped by thirty-nine percent in mid-June only to bounce back to fifty-five percent the following week.
Since its premiere in June 2006, the NBC show has been a fan favorite. Primarily for the 18 to 49-year-old demographics.
The show is part of a bigger franchise created by one-time host and “American Idol” favorite, Simon Cowell.
The first season of the eclectic talent search competition featured the iconic television personality, the late Regis Philbin as host. Additionally, the first season of the unique talent search included actor – and European singing sensation – David Hasselhoff, singer Brandy Norwood, and controversial television personality Piers Morgan the “Americas Got Talent” judges. In 2009, Nick Cannon took over the hosting duties for the hit show followed by Howie Mandel and Terry Crews. Terry Crews is serving as the current host of the popular NBC series. He has held this position since 2019.
“America’s Got Talent” Is Certainly An NBC Staple
“America’s Got Talent” is a competition show where contestants can show off their unique acts. All in the hopes that they can continue through the competition to the final rounds. From singers to dancers, comedians, gymnasts, magicians, impressionists, and aspiring stars, the “America’s Got Talent” stage has seen it all.
Each season, the winning talent act receives a $1 million prize. The reigning talent also gets the chance to showcase their act while headlining in the “America’s Got Talent” live Las Vegas show.
The viewership is varying quite a bit from week to week for this most recent season of the popular NBC reality series. However, season sixteen still promises to be an amazing one. According to show producers, “America’s Got Talent” received an unprecedented number of act submissions for the current season. And, it certainly looks like the judge’s table which features Howie Mandel, Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum, and Sofía Vergara this season is certainly ready to see it all!
