After recently celebrating the anniversary of accepting US Citizenship over 2 decades ago, the former California governor turns his focus to another celebration. September 18th marked the birthday of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s son, Patrick Shriver Schwarzenegger. The actor, philanthropist, and co-founder of #Project360 turned 28 yesterday.

Despite toting massive machine guns in his movies and dominating the bodybuilding world, it seems Arnold Schwarzenegger is really a teddy bear when it comes to his family. His birthday message to his son is some serious “Dad of the Year” level stuff. Get ready for your hearts to explode, Outsiders, and let’s dive right in.

Arnold Schwarzenegger Couldn’t Be More Proud of His Son

One of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s most (mis)quoted lines asks “Who is your daddy?” It comes from his role in “Kindergarten Cop,” of course, and the star actually fathered 5 children over the years. Patrick falls right in the middle of his siblings’ ages. Arnold’s birthday message to him couldn’t get any sweeter.

He writes: “Happy birthday @PSchwarzenegger! I love you, I’m proud of you, and watching you grow every day in every way is one of my greatest joys. Your business is booming, your acting career is taking off, but most importantly, you never forget to reach out and help others.”

Two nostalgic throwback photos join the text, showing the two together while Patrick was just a wee little tot. One shows Arnold Schwarzenegger in the middle of a diaper change, while the other shows off an epic piggyback ride in front of a beautifully draped American flag.

An Epic Family Lineage

Arnold Schwarzenegger shares 4 of his 5 children with ex-wife, Maria Shriver. What many people don’t know, is that she comes from an impressive family line with ties to the Kennedy family. She is the daughter of Eunice Kennedy, whose brothers include John F. Kennedy, Robert F. Kennedy and Ted Kennedy.

Patrick is also the grandson of Sargent Shriver, who IMDb credits as the 1st Director of the Peace Corps. Sargent also became the Democratic Party’s nominee for Vice President of the United States in 1972. Another career highlight includes the fact that he founded Camp Shriver, which eventually turned into the Special Olympics.

If Patrick’s father wasn’t impressive enough, maybe his mother’s line is. Still, Patrick seems to be following in Arnold Schwarzenegger’s footsteps while continuing to make his acting journey his own. As murmurs of a certain role reprisal for Arnold Schwarzenegger spread, perhaps there’s also hope for a project involving his son in the future.
