With her new series, Nine Perfect Strangers, set to premiere on Hulu this upcoming Wednesday (August 18th), Being the Ricardos star Nicole Kidman recently revealed that the upcoming miniseries actually almost got the axe due to COVID-19 pandemic restrictions.

While chatting with The Sunday Telegraph, Nicole Kidman recalls that the production for the series was called off in the U.S. in 2020. She made the decision to relocate the production to Australia. “We were fully supported by all of the actors and government. We were able to still get the show made instead of having to shut it down. Which is the other possibility.”

Nicole Kidman further explains that for her it was the ability to get the show made. The production team also didn’t really finalize the location so they were still trying to find the right spot and just couldn’t find it. “Then suddenly, the possibility of shooting in Byron Bay became available.”

According to IMDb, Nine Perfect Strangers is a miniseries that follows nine stressed city dwellers who visit a boutique health-and-wellness resort that promises healing and transformation. The series is a drama, mystery, and thriller.  Starring alongside Nicole Kidman is Melissa McCarthy, Michael Shannon, Les Hill, Melvin Gregg, and Luke Evans.

Nicole then says she has learned her own limits over the years when it comes to balancing work and home lives. “This is more to do with what can my family, actually. There’s a family here that is first and foremost the most important thing.”

Kidman goes on to add that she will jeopardize her family for her career. “So times, there’s some give and take with it. It can’t be all perfect. But overall, if it’s going to stress the family too much, then it can’t be done.”
