‘Being the Ricardos’ Star Nicole Kidman Says Keith Urban Won’t Join Her on Wellness Retreats

Nicole Kidman said that she and her husband, Keith Urban, have found ways to support each other’s careers and interests. But when it comes to Kidman’s love for wellness retreats, Urban is out.

Kidman sat down with Good Morning America to chat about her much anticipated Hulu original Nine Perfect Strangers, which premiered on Wednesday (August 18th). And she divulged that she would fall victim to the type of person she plays on the show.

In the show, Kidman plays a seemingly sinister mental-health guru who runs a wellness retreat called Tranquillum House. The series follows nine strangers as they try to unfurl the mystery surrounding Masha —and decide if they should fear her more than their inner demons.

“If someone had said that to me, ‘come give me yourself for ten days and I will heal you,’ I’d be like ‘I’m in!’” she admitted. But those days are in the past. Thanks to Urban, she would never attend a similarly dubious retreat—or any retreat for that matter.

Nicole Kidman told GMA that she has checked into retreats only to leave two days later because Urban refused to go with her. When she’d beg him, “he’d be like ‘no way!’ That’s something you do with your girlfriends.’”

Nicole Kidman Says Her New Show Was Almost Canceled

Nicole Kidman revealed that Nine Perfect Strangers was almost canceled. And with all the hype surrounding the Hulu original, it’s hard to believe the show almost got the ax.

But it wasn’t a lack of interest that almost stopped the show from premiering. In an interview with The Sunday Telegraph, the Being the Ricardos star said the miniseries almost halted its filming due to COVID-19 restrictions.

Production was stopped in 2020, and they decided to relocate the filming. Kidman and the crew moved to Australia. “It was a hustle,” she said. “We were fully supported by all of the actors and government. We were able to still get the show made instead of having to shut it down. Which is the other possibility.”

“We hadn’t really finalized the location, so we were still kind of trying to find the right spot, and we couldn’t find it. And then suddenly the possibility of shooting in Byron Bay became available,” she recalled.

She said that they still had to follow strict safety measures on the set and that protocol required cast and crew members to be tested regularly.

Luckily, Nicole’s production company, Blossom Films, pulled it off. The first episode of the miniseries airs tonight (August 18th) at midnight.
