Bette Midler Highlights ‘Over 40,000 Veterans are Currently Homeless’ on Veterans Day

Bette Midler brings attention to the over 40,000 veterans left on the streets after selflessly serving America.

Midler Draw Awareness to Veteran Homelessness

Bette Midler is strongly working to help several causes for under-privileged communities.

Recently, the money gained from the “Hocus Pocus” sequel is being used to benefit and raise awareness of the New York Restoration Project. The non-profit organization, founded by Midler in 1995, focuses on transforming open space in under-resourced communities.

She has also supported several causes involving homelessness, hunger and poverty.

A reply to Midler’s tweet shows a scene of her singing the Beatles’ “In My Life” from the 1991 film “For the Boys”. She plays an entertainer performing for the troops during WWII.

Belief in Biden

Midler believes the Biden administration will find solutions to this and several other issues the U.S. is suffering from.

The singer and actress tweeted Monday, and called President Donald Trump a “fascist” and a “racist criminal,” as well as calling out to God for former Vice-President Joe Biden to win the presidential election.

“Are you there, God?” she says. “It’s me, Bette. I’m so scared God.”

“We have a fascist in the #WhiteHouse, a racist criminal who hates democracy, denies science and kills our citizens!” Midler continued.“#ElectionDay is next week,” says Midler. “What if he wins? We won’t have a country!”

“Please let #JoeBiden win,” she adds. “Thank you.”

Apparently, her prayer worked. She tweeted this after Joe Biden won the 2020 election.

Help for the Homeless

Even before the coronavirus hit, a surge in homelessness was sweeping the nation.

The Trump administration says it will “crackdown” on homelessness in California by destroying encampments and shelters, but nothing has resulted from the threat. Trump has done nothing thus far to help with the homeless situation developing across the country.

While campaigning, Biden promised to reinstate the fair housing-rule Trump got rid of upon taking administration. Biden is pledging to support emergency housing if tenants are threatened due to the pandemic. He also says Trump’s isn’t dealing well with the emerging housing crisis. Biden has pledged $13 billion in spending to combat homelessness.

With Joe Biden’s late son, Beau Biden, who served as an officer in the Iraq war where he won a Bronze star, Biden has shown a deep passion for helping veterans. He claims he is planning to care for them and their families during deployment and after.

Veterans facing homeless or at immediate risk of homelessness can contact the National Call Center for Homeless Veterans at (877) 4AID-VET or (877-424-3838) for assistance.
