These two Canadian “Big Sky” actresses might be the next big stars in Hollywood given their promising young careers. Katheryn Winnick who plays Jenny and Kylie Bunbury who plays Cassie in the new hit show have shown their faces in several of television’s biggest dramas.
Let’s take a deeper look into these ladies’ acting careers. Both have had very productive careers so far, but it seems like “Big Sky” will turn out to be their official break out roles. Winnick, 43, and Bunbury, 32, have seen their fair share of screen time over the past decade or two, but considering the show’s recent success, that number seems likely to increase moving forward.
Jenny and Cassie in “Big Sky”
The “Big Sky” story takes place in the remote wilderness of Montana where two young ladies have been kidnapped. Detectives Cassie Dewell and Cody Hoyt must join forces with Cody’s estranged wife to solve the mystery.
Like many murder mystery shows, the plot is not just what it seems. The detectives discover that the two missing girls are part of a larger string of kidnappings along a remote highway in Montana. While only season one has premiered on ABC so far, this show seems like it could renew for several more seasons.
Katheryn Winnick has already shared her talents on several films and television shows in her career. After taking a recurring role on the TNT show “Bones,” Winnick found a place in the television industry. This helped her land her role as Jenny Hoyt on the “Big Sky” opening season.
However, she appeared in several minor roles in crime television before playing Hannah Burley in eleven episodes of Bones. For instance, she played roles in different CSI, Criminal Minds, House, and Law and Order.
Katheryn Winnick has also showed her face in several films over the years. Her first main role came as Tabitha in the 2008 film Amusement. She also appeared in 2006’s Could 9, 2010’s Love and Other Drugs, and last year’s Wander among countless other works.
The much younger Kylie Bunbury has found her lead role fairly quickly in the “Big Sky” television series. Most of her success has been through television so far, however, she has appeared in some fairly big films. For instance, she appears in Prom from 2011 and Date Night from 2018.
With that said, her television credits reign supreme. Like Winnick, she has made an appearance on an episode of Law and Order as well as a few other crime shows other than Big Sky. Most recently she appeared on The Twilight Zone in 2020 and Brave New World as the lead role, Frannie Crown.
