‘Big Sky’: Rick Legarski Quotes Epic Line From ‘Jaws’

by Keeli Parkey

In its brief run on television, “Big Sky” has already produced some very memorable moments. One of the wackiest thus far occurred during the episode that aired on Tuesday (Feb. 2). And, of course, the moment includes officer Rick Legarski.

During the episode, the Montana Highway Patrol officer played by John Carroll Lynch is still recovering in the hospital after being shot in the head. Medical professionals are working to determine his physical and mental state. Tests are performed.

But, Legarski surprises his doctors during the episode of “Big Sky.” He squeezes their fingers – maybe too hard. Then he utters one of the most famous lines in the history of film.

“We’re going to need a bigger boat,” he says quoting from the movie “Jaws.”

What could Legarski waking up after being shot mean for the show? It is not made clear whether the officer will suffer long-term damage from the bullet. A neurologist is unable to provide answers to that question.

Later in the episode, Legarski tells his attorney that he cannot remember when he was shot. He also cannot recall what transpired before that moment. And, he acts confused. Could he just be pretending? Can he really not remember? With Rick Legarski, who knows. You’ll just have to keep watching “Big Sky.”
