Billy Brown: ‘Alaskan Bush People’ Star’s Cause of Death Revealed

Billy Brown, the patriarch of the “Alaskan Bush People” family, died from a seizure, his son Bear Brown said in a social media post on Monday.

“We are heartbroken to announce that our beloved patriarch Billy Brown passed away last night after suffering from a seizure,” Bear Brown said in part of an Instagram post. Billy Brown was 68 years old.

His death is also confirmed on the official “Alaskan Bush People” Facebook page.

“We are devastated to hear of Billy Brown’s sudden passing,” a statement says. “He has been part of the Discovery family for years – a trailblazer, a lovely man, and most definitely one of a kind. Our heart is with his family and those that knew him and loved him as they deal with this devastating loss.”

“Alaskan Bush People” has been on the Discovery Channel for 10 seasons. A new season started on Aug. 23, 2020.

Billy Brown Spent Time In, Out Of Hospital For Health

Over the past few years, Billy Brown has been in and out of the hospital. Doctors advised him that continuing to live in the high altitude would harm him. Billy Brown refused to listen to them, continuing to live around his five sons, two daughters, and wife Ami.

After returning home from one hospital visit, Billy Brown told his large family that he’d been having heart problems.

Because of his breathing issues, Billy thought it was a lung issue. It was not. Doctors told him he had heart problems.

Brown Family Loses Home In California Wildfires

In 2020, the family moved down to Washington state because of Ami Brown’s cancer battle.

Last August, a raging wildfire broke out near their home in Okanogan County, Wash. At one time, the family gave their fans a very reassuring update about the situation.

“On August 18, a wildfire broke out near the Brown family’s land,” according to a statement released by Noah Brown and his wife Rhain Brown. “The family is safe, but the fire is still raging. Everybody made it out completely safe. We are all totally good.”

They thanked the firefighters and first-responders for working hard to keep everyone safe.

While the family did escape the fire, their home did not.
