Bindi Irwin turns 23 today, July 24, and it’s her first birthday as a new mom. It’s a big moment in her life, and it’s one she doesn’t want to go unremarked.

She used the occasion to share some absolutely adorable photos of her and her nearly four-month-old daughter, Grace, along with some other familiar faces.

“My first birthday as a mama has been the most beautiful gift. Our sweet Grace Warrior’s face says it all. Today I celebrated by feeding Monty the crocodile and hugging my gorgeous girl (not at the same time!). 💛 Thank you for the lovely birthday messages and kind support, it means the world to me,” she captioned the pics.

Her husband, Chandler Powell, called his wife “the most amazing woman I know,” in his post. Adding that she was a “wife, mother, and Wildlife Warrior” that brings “happiness and love to everyone” around her.

Even her brother, Robert, made sure Bindi Irwin knew how much she was loved. He shared a selfie with her and her husband and a very fashionable baby Grace.

“Happy birthday @bindisueirwin 😊 You’ve always been the best sister, and now it’s so cool to see you as such a wonderful mum to little Grace! I’m so proud of you!” he wrote on Instagram. “(Ps. You and Chandler are raising an absolute fashion icon 😂😎)”

Bindi Irwin Posts Loving Tribute to Her Dad

It’s moments like this that remind you how precious your time with your family is. And how short that time can be. Steve Irwin, Bindi’s dad, the wild animal conservationist died in 2006 after being attacked by a stingray.

Bindi Irwin and her brother have continued their father’s work protecting wildlife. And she thanked him for instilling in her a love of the outdoors and all of its creatures in a touching tribute to him on Father’s Day.

“My dad taught me the importance of strength when standing up for what I believe in and to have empathy for all living beings,” she writes. “My husband amazes me every day with his kind and steadfast heart; his love for our daughter is infinite. My father-in-law works tirelessly for his family and is always there with a word of encouragement. These extraordinary men inspire me and I love them so very much.”

Though, not all of her father figures have been as loving. Bindi Irwin spoke candidly in a now-deleted Instagram post about her estranged relationship with her paternal grandfather, Bob.

“From the time I was a little girl he has ignored me,” Irwin said in her Father’s Day post. “Preferring to spend time doing anything else rather than being with me. He has never said a single kind word to me personally. It breaks my heart but it is not healthy to engage in an abusive relationship.”
