Country star and “The Voice” coach Blake Shelton knows it’s been a difficult year for many of his fans. So he is ringing in the new year with a call for suggestions on how to be happy despite the pandemic.

Blake Shelton Asks How to Be #HappyAnywhere

“The holidays have been extra difficult this year,” Shelton tweeted Tuesday. “Share your tips to be #HappyAnywhere this NYE! We’ll start… Ring in the New Year with a video call to your loved ones!”

The suggestions in Shelton’s replies ran the gamut. “I’m just over here hatching turkeys,” posted one tweep.

“Bake something for your senior neighbor who may be alone,” tweeted another.

“We will go fishing and then a Texas size bbq,” replied one user. “Hell yeah!!”

And of course, one fan had to chime in with, “Listening to @blakeshelton and @gwenstefani on repeat.”

A Busy 2020 for Shelton

As for Shelton, he’s had a frenetic year, between starring in “The Voice” and singing and, not least, proposing to singer and fellow coach Gwen Stefani.

The couple got engaged this October. Shelton had been planning it for some time, telling Stefani’s father what he had in mind on her birthday and then hiding the ring in his truck for a week.

Shelton also made sure to check with Stefani’s three sons before he proposed. And they were present for the proposal, as Shelton explained on “The Kelly Clarkson Show.”

“I didn’t want to take her away or do something private away from the kids,” he said. And “I felt it was important for the kids to be a part of that moment, so that’s what I did. I had the ring for a couple weeks; maybe two and a half weeks.”

Shelton proposed while he, Stefani and some of their family members were quarantining at his Tishomingo, Oklahoma ranch. But Stefani almost cancelled the trip, she said – she was getting overwhelmed with all the complications of taking a trip during the pandemic.

“I was trying to get out of going to Oklahoma because it was getting too complicated with COVID and the family. I was like, ‘I think we should just cancel the trip,’” Stefani told Clarkson. “It was one of those. Then we got it together and we ended up going.”

Lucky for her they did, because that’s where Shelton wanted to propose. At the ranch, he asked her to go get the fire starter in the cabinet. When she did, she found a box with a ring in it instead. And the rest is pop culture history. Looks like Shelton and Stefani have a happy New Year in store for them.
