Gwen Stefani turned 51 this October 3, and her partner Blake Shelton had a sweet message for his “special lady.”
“It’s a special day for a special lady in my life. Happy birthday @gwenstefani, I’d write a song for you every single day if I could,” Shelton wrote on Instagram.
For her birthday, Stefani posted a baby picture of herself. She wrote, “thank u for all the bday wishes!”
Shelton and Stefani met on the set of “The Voice.” Both were married to other people when they met; both divorced in 2015. They became a couple by late 2015, according to a Parade timeline of their relationship.
The pair quickly began trading romantic gestures. Shelton bought Stefani a horse. Stefani wrote a song inspired by Shelton. Then they released a duet.
“Gwen saved my life,” Shelton said in 2016. “Who else on Earth could understand going through a high-profile divorce from another musician? You can’t even imagine the similarities in our divorces.”
As for Stefani, she said their matchup seemed preordained.
“I love NBC, but they for sure edited stuff to look like we were flirting,” she said. “They chose to run with that story before anything was even real. I hardly knew him. But it was like it was in the air—happening before it happened.”
By 2020, the couple still haven’t gotten married. But they’ve released their fourth duet, “Happy Anywhere.” And Stefani has given Shelton a quarantine haircut.
