Flexible schedules are nice. And, “Blue Bloods” star Abigail Hawk is thankful for her incredibly flexible schedule on the hit CBS series.
“I have sometimes two weeks off at a time,” the “Blue Bloods” actress explained of her filming schedule. “I’m able to dive into these other projects.”
For Abigail Hawk, this creates the best of both worlds for her as an actress.
“I have my stability,” she said in a 2019 interview. “But I get to be creative in many different ways. It’s wonderful.”
A Costar’s Avacado Ranch Gives Hawk Free Time
According to Hawk, her flexibility on the “Blue Bloods” set is due to Tom Selleck’s own crazy schedule.
“The beauty of Blue Bloods is that I work off of Tom Selleck’s schedule,” she said.
Tom Selleck plays the Reagan family patriarch on the hit CBS series that films in New York. However, Selleck lives on a California avocado ranch with his wife.
To make filming work, many of Frank’s scenes are filmed in specified blocks of time where the actor travels to New York for filming.
Hawk added that along with the flexible schedule, she appreciates the opportunities her role in “Blue Bloods” has provided her.
“I’m very, very grateful for that job,” she said of her role as Detective Baker.
“Blue Bloods” Role Opens Doors In Real Life
“Especially because it has opened doors for me to meet a ton of real-life law enforcement, women who are actual heroes,” Hawk explained. “I really enjoyed being a part of that community.”
Hawk portrays detective Abigail Baker in the hit police drama. She is a member of the Police Commissioners Squad and serves as Frank Reagan’s longtime assistant.
The detective has served under Frank Reagan since she started on the show in season one of “Blue Bloods.” Since that time, she has started a family and helped Police Commissioner Frank Reagan out in many of the “Blue Bloods” cases.
By season eight, the gifted detective is looking to become more active in the field. However, Frank isn’t ready for that move, as he has come to depend on her help and gifted instincts when it comes to solving crimes.
Eventually, Detective Abigail Baker receives an offer to work for a captain she had worked with years prior when he was a sergeant. However, Frank refuses to let the detective resign from her post to take this position. Eventually, Frank comes clean and tells his assistant that he had overheard the captain was looking to hire her for her connections to get favors in other departments.
Abigail Hawk noted that working on such a powerhouse as “Blue Bloods” for over ten years has given her some much-appreciated stability.
“It’s lovely to show up to set because you know exactly what you’re going to get,” Hawk explained. “It’s a huge family that we created, we all feel safe and secure there.”
