In a series of photos she shared on Sunday, Sept. 12, “Blue Bloods” star Abigail Hawk celebrated the United States of America. She also celebrated the “resilience” of her country in the context of the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

The 36-year-old emotionally reflected on Sept. 11, 2001, in a social media post. She began her message with a salute to New York City and her nation. “A toast to the resilience of our city. Our country. Ourselves,” she also shared. One of the photos in her post shows the “Blue Bloods” actress holding up a glass while wearing a shirt that reads “I (heart) New York.”

Unlike many other celebrities, Abigail Hawk chose not to post about 9/11 on the exact day of the tragic day’s 20th anniversary. Instead, she chose to spend the day in “meditation” and spending time with people close to her.

“I was quiet yesterday. Mostly avoided social media and the news,” Hawk also shared. “Many moments of silence. Much meditation. And then, a perfectly imperfect communion with friends.”

Hawk, who plays Detective Abigail Baker in “Blue Bloods,” encouraged her followers to really make time for others in their lives. She also encouraged her followers to laugh frequently.

“Sometimes I feel like the best thing we can do in these moments is to immerse and invest in ourselves and each other. To share stories and truly listen. And laugh. We have to give ourselves permission to laugh again, and often. I love you all,” Hawk also posted.

Other Stars of ‘Blue Bloods’ Also Shared Posts in Honor of the 20th Anniversary of 9/11

Abigail Hawk isn’t the only star of “Blue Bloods” who commemorated the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Her costars Donnie Wahlberg and Bridget Moynahan also shared their thoughts on social media about Sept. 11, 2001.

In his Instagram post, Donnie Wahlberg offered an emotional prayer in memory of the nearly 3,000 lives lost two decades ago. “Lord, please bless the souls that were lost, on this day, 20 years ago,” he began. Next, he asked for comfort for their families. “Bless their families, their friends, their co-workers and all whom they left behind,” he also shared.

This “Blue Bloods” star also prayed for “love and respect.” “Help us to remember all of them with love and respect, and help all of us to remember the love and respect that we had for each other — in the wake of this most difficult of days. Amen,” Donnie Wahlberg also prayed.

Bridget Moynahan also shared a moving social media post. She kept hers very brief, but it’s a message most Americans have embraced. “20 years #neverforget,” she shared.
