“Blue Bloods” star Bridget Moynahan has been with the show since the very beginning. And she knows full well how lucky they are that “Blue Bloods” hasn’t gotten stale during that time.
In a 2017 interview with “CBS This Morning,” Moynahan explained how the show has managed to stay fresh. The thanks for that, she said, goes to the writers.
“I have noticed that the writing has gotten better year after year,” Moynahan said. “We’re very thankful, and feel blessed about that, because, you know, after seven years, it could get a little stale. But luckily, we have a bunch of writers and people who really care about the show who keep coming up with really smart ideas and storylines.”

‘Blue Bloods’ Took a Lot of Precautions During the Pandemic
In a more recent interview, Moynahan described the steps the network took during the pandemic to keep everyone safe while the coronavirus was still raging. She told New Beauty this April that the pandemic changed almost everything about the experience of shooting “Blue Bloods.”
“It’s been totally different,” Moynahan said. “CBS really took enormous precautions to get everyone back to set, but that pretty much means wearing a mask the whole time until they say ‘action.’ The second we’re done, they get all the actors off, and then everyone does their work.”
“It’s a little harder for us because there’s not as much of a connection—that verbal connection, that creative connection—that we’re so used to,” she added. “We can’t spend that time sitting around chatting and connecting on a personal level in between shots. We do feel a little bit more removed, but I think everyone on set is just so thankful that we’ve been able to go back to work and create something. A lot of productions didn’t make it back, so we feel fortunate in that way.”
Moynahan Feels Better at 50 Than She Did In Her Youth
What’s more, the “Blue Bloods” star seemingly has no fear of aging. In fact, in multiple interviews, Moynahan has said she’s happier now than she was when she was younger.
“I am really excited about turning 50,” Moynahan told New Beauty this spring. She added, “I feel great and I look great. I don’t know, I don’t seem very fazed by it at all. I’m just really excited for it to happen. Is that weird?”
At 45, Moynahan was saying the same thing. She told “CBS This Morning” that she would rather be in her 40s than in her 20s.
“I just think I’m calmer, and more confident, feel more grounded [now],” she said. “And a lot of the things that really got me worked up or worried as a younger person, just kind of rolls right off.”
And fortunately, it seems like Moynahan has taken that newfound equanimity and applied it to her portrayal of Erin Reagan on “Blue Bloods,” a poised character if ever there was one.
