From one Blue Bloods star to another, actress Bridget Moynahan took to social media to wish her fellow co-star, Vanessa Ray, a happy birthday.
As fans of Blue Bloods already know, Bridget Moynahan plays New York County Assistant District Attorney Erin Reagan. Erin is the second of three children of New York City Police Commissioner Frank Reagan (played by Tom Selleck). Frank Reagan is also a father to NYPD detective Danny Reagan (Donnie Wahlberg) and NYPD sergeant Jamie Reagan (Will Estes). However, Moynahan’s character is the only Reagan daughter.
But that’s where Vanessa Ray comes in. She plays Officer Eddie Janko-Reagan on the police drama — the partner of Jamie and his eventual wife. That makes her Frank Reagan’s daughter-in-law and Erin Reagan’s sister-in-law. Blue Bloods fans most certainly know Officer Eddie by her feisty attitude and her strong opinions.
On Thursday afternoon, Moynahan posted a sweet birthday to her Blue Bloods sister-in-law for her 40th birthday. Vanessa Ray was born on June 24, 1981, in Livermore, California.
“Happy Birthday to my TV SIL and my real life friend @vrayskull!” Moynahan wrote next to a photo of her and her fellow co-star. “We will celebrate when you head back east for season 12!!! #woohoo”
Speaking of fellow co-stars, Donnie Wahlberg even made his way into the comments. He left an emoji message on the birthday post to Ray.”
Where Was ‘Blue Bloods’ Star Vanessa Ray Prior to Starring on the Show?
Nowadays, whenever we see Vanessa Ray it’s hard not to think of her as Officer Eddie Janko. But she is, in fact, much more than just her Blue Bloods character. Prior to landing her role as Jamie Reagan’s husband in the family police drama, Vanessa Ray had quite a successful resume.
Ray was extremely well known for playing Charlotte Drake on the teen drama Pretty Little Liars. In addition, the Blue Bloods star also had roles as Jenny on the legal drama series Suits, and as Teri Ciccone on the soap opera As the World Turns.
Meanwhile, Vanessa Ray’s acting experience doesn’t end at television shows. She has also made appearances in some well-known musicals. As a matter of fact, Ray earned her Actor’s Equity Association card for her role of Rusty and for singing “Let’s Hear It for the Boy” in the musical Footloose. She also played Nemo in Robert and Kristin Lopez’s Finding Nemo: The Musical. And as if all of that wasn’t enough to wow you, Ray joined the Broadway cast of Hair during its final season. She played Crissy and sang the song “Frank Mills.”
