Moynahan, like many others on Tuesday night, took to social media to praise Milwaukee’s championship run. The team led by Giannis Antetokounmpo and Khris Middleton finally brought another title back to Wisconsin.
The Blue Bloods star said the Bucks title makes her “happy!” However, we aren’t exactly sure the connection she shares to the team if any. It could just be she’s happy for the city and the team since it’s literally been decades since they won a championship.
She was born in New York, but in elementary school the actress’ family moved to Longmeadow, Massachusetts. Since Moynahan grew up in Massachusetts and went to college there as well, it’s safe to assume she’s likely a Boston-based sports fan. Therefore you’d think she would be a Boston Celtics fan. Moynahan famously had a relationship with NFL legend Tom Brady who spent most of his career in Boston with the New England Patriots. In fact, the two share a son together who was born in 2007.
Regardless of the reasoning, it was a kind gesture on Moynahan’s part to celebrate along with the fans of Milwaukee. Before her ex Tom Brady joined the Patriots, New England fans had to suffer through years of awful teams. Maybe she sympathized with Bucks fans who haven’t had a whole lot to be excited about until the last few years.
“This…. Makes me happy! Congratulations @bucks,” the Blue Bloods star wrote on Instagram.
‘Blue Bloods’ Actress Explains How She and Fellow Boston Native Donnie Wahlberg Feel Playing New Yorkers
As previously mentioned, Blue Bloods star Bridget Moynahan grew up in Massachusetts. In addition, her co-star on the hit television show, Donnie Wahlberg, also famously grew up in the Boston area. Therefore it’s somewhat ironic the pair play New Yorkers on the crime drama series.
Anyone that’s ever lived in the Boston or New York City areas knows the two cities have a heated rivalry. It mainly revolves around each city’s sports teams, especially the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox baseball rivalry.
While speaking to Boston Magazine in 2010, Moynahan touched on the subject. She spoke about what it’s like for her and Wahlberg to play the New Yorker characters they portray on Blue Bloods.
“I think Boston and New York have some similarities, especially in the types of people that come from those cities and their pride and strength,” she said.
While there may be some similarities between the two cities, she also made sure to point out that her co-star draws a hard line in the sand over wearing anything New York-related.
“Donnie’s very adamant about not wearing New York baseball caps on the show. He’s a true Boston sports fan. He’ll throw down,” she amusingly added.
