On-camera, Bridget Moynahan is a stern-faced assistant district attorney on Blue Bloods. Off-air, she is an easy-going actress and mom who’s afraid to sound like Elmer Fudd while filming. In every one of her interviews, the star actress seems to have the same friendly and lighthearted demeanor, no matter the subject.
Perhaps that’s why it’s so shocking to see her portray the sincere and sometimes grave character of Erin Reagan. While Moynahan’s character only tries to uphold the limits of the law, she often has to play the bad cop (pun intended) in the situation.
If you’ve ever watched the cartoon rabbit, Buggs Bunny, and his adventures, you’re likely familiar with his comical enemy and hunter, Elmer Fudd. The huntsman always wears his classic slumped-over hat and brown shirt and pants. With a double-barrel shotgun in hand (why he didn’t choose a .22 LR rifle, we’ll never understand), he stealths around the woods, hunting “wabbits.”
‘Blue Bloods’ Star Fears Messing Up This Word On Camera
Like the befuddled woodsman, Blue Bloods star Bridget Moynahan has a tendency to mispronounce a particular word: c
While most people can usually get by without using the word, lawyers, like Moynahan’s character, use it quite often. And the actress dreads the day she has to say it while filming.
In a recent interview, the Blue Bloods actress admitted that the word is the only thing she wishes she’ll never have to say as a lawyer. She attempts during her interview to pronounce it, each time adding a “W” where an “R” should be.
“I sound like Elmer Fudd!”
Moynahan Almost Turned Down Role As Erin Reagan
Despite her phobia of “corroborate,” Moynahan seems pleased with her place on Blue Bloods. In fact, her favorite part of shooting is the family dinners that conclude each episode.
“The best thing about Blue Bloods is the family dinners because it’s the one day we all are able to get together in the same room and catch up on each other lives,” Moynahan told E! News.
However, before Moynahan came to know the joys of the job, there was a time the actress considered turning down the position.
Before accepting her most celebrated role, Moynahan was a single mother to her son, John Edward Thomas Moynahan. At the time of the show’s debut, young John was only three years old. The decision to return to work is tough for any mother, and for Moynahan, she didn’t want to lose any time with her son.
Hearing of his friend’s hesitations, Donnie Wahlberg, Moynahan’s now co-star, gave her a call.
“I called Bridget and said, “You’re doing this!” Wahlberg told Watch! Magazine.
And so, with a little encouragement from her soon-to-be colleague, Moynahan quickly became the Erin Reagan we know and loved today.
