Fans of the CBS show “Blue Bloods” were sad to see the character of Nicky Reagan leave the show. Luckily for them, it looks like the character, played by Sami Gayle, is back for the show’s 11th season.

Led by Frank Reagan (played by Tom Selleck), the Reagans are a family of police officers who have dedicated themselves to law enforcement in New York City. Nicky has been a key member of that family during its run. During the show’s 10th season, she announced her plans to move from the Big Apple to San Francisco.

Some fans thought Gayle had quit the show. However, it appears that might not be the case. Gayle never officially came out and said she was quitting the show. Plus, an Instagram post promoting season 11 included an image of Nicky. This made fans hopeful that the character would return.

CheatSheet.com also confirmed that Gayle is back on the show. How significant her presence will be on the show is unknown at this point. Gayle has said she would like to see Nicky join the New York Police Department in the future.

“I’d love to see Nicky live out her desire to serve in the NYPD,” the actress told Glitter. “I’d also love to see her go on another ride along with Uncle Danny now that she is an adult.”

The actress is also glad to see how Nicky has grown over the years.

“(Nicky) has emerged an independent woman with a positive outlook who, despite any backlash, has always chartered her own path,” Gayle said.

Gayle also said she is happy to see how her “Blue Bloods” character has impacted fans of the show.

‘A mother once came up to me and thanked me for the impact that Nicky had had on her daughter; she said that watching my character carve her own path and speak her mind encouraged her daughter to do the same,” Gayle also said. “That was incredibly rewarding.”

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, Gayle said the production of “Blue Bloods” has changed in order to protect the cast and crew.

Season 11 of “Blue Bloods” began airing in December. The show airs on Fridays at 10 p.m. EST.

‘Blue Bloods’ Actor Dies from COVID-19 Complications

The “Blue Bloods” family lost one of its own earlier this year.

Nick Cordero, who was also known for his Broadway performances, passed away from COVID-19 complications on July 5. He was 41 years old. He had battled the coronavirus for 95 days.

Amanda Kloots, his wife, announced his passing via Instagram. She also paid tribute to Cordero.

“God has another angel in heaven now,” she began. “My darling husband passed away this morning. He was surrounded in love by his family, singing and praying as he gently left this earth.”

“I am in disbelief and hurting everywhere,” she continued. “My heart is broken as I cannot imagine our lives without him. Nick was such a bright light. (Nick) was everyone’s friend, loved to listen, help and especially talk. He was an incredible actor and musician. He loved his family and loved being a father and husband. Elvis and I will miss him in everything we do, every day.”
