Donnie Wahlberg has tried his hand at almost everything. From popstar sensation to movie star, to restauranteur, to the producer, to television star, the “Blue Bloods” star rarely has a moment to take a breath.
However, for Wahlberg, that is just fine.
“I’m doing everything I ever dreamed of doing,” the actor said in a 2014 WebMD interview.
In 2014, Wahlberg was juggling multiple roles. Three years prior, “Blue Bloods” star joined forces with brothers Paul and Mark in opening the first Wahlburgers restaurant. The Wahlberg brothers’ foray into the restaurant business led to a hit series “Wahlburgers.” Donnie not only starred in the hit reality series, but he also served as producer. “Wahlburgers” lasted for five years on A&E.
Additionally, Wahlberg’s former hit music group “New Kids on the Block” (NKOTB) announced a comeback tour. Wahlberg first found fame as a pop icon in the hit 1980s and 1990s boy band. The group reunited for a 2014 tour. The tour took the group all across the country, and even parts of Europe.
Wahlberg’s “Breaks” Were Moments to Switch Gears
During the interview, Wahlberg described a typical day for him at the time.
“The morning after a tour date in Las Vegas, I go to work on “Blue Bloods” at 6 a.m.,” the actor explained. Wahlberg went on to explain that his “Blue Bloods” breaks served as moments for the actor to change into his producer hat.
“On breaks, I edit “Wahlburgers,” he said. Wahlberg also served as a producer on the short-lived reality series “Rock This Boat,” which followed NKOTB through a variety of scenarios. Some episodes focused on “behind the scenes” happenings, others recounted stories from their earlier days of fame.
Wahlberg plays the tough-minded Danny Reagan on the hit CBS series Blue Bloods. Danny serves as an investigator for New York City’s 54th Precinct’s Detective Squad. Danny also specializes in the Major Crimes Unit.
In the hit drama, Danny Reagan serves on the NYPD police force along with his brother Jamie (Will Estes) who is an NYPD Sargeant. Danny’s sister, Erin Reagan (Bridget Moynahan) has also chosen a career in the law enforcement field. Erin currently serves as the New York City Assistant District attorney.
Their father, Frank (Tom Selleck) is the New York City Police commissioner. This is a role that the longtime NYPD officer followed his father, Henry (Len Cariou) into years earlier.
The twelfth season of the hit CBS drama series is scheduled to premiere this fall.
