He may be happily married to actress Jenny McCarthy, but Blue Bloods star Donnie Wahlberg admits there were other ladies that he had eyes for back in the day.

During an interview with Uproxx in 2019, Donnie Wahlberg revealed he had a crush on Bern Nadette Stanis, who is best known as Thelma from the TV series Good Times. “My first celebrity crush ever — there were two that I can recall. Kristy McNichol and Thelma from Good Times,” the boy band member turned actor recalls. “Her name was Bern Nadette Stanis, I think her real name was.”

Donnie Wahlberg Finds Love With Jenny McCarthy

Donnie Wahlberg began dating Jenny McCarthy in 2013 after meeting on Watch What Happens Live. The couple announced their engagement on the ABC daytime talk show The View in April 2014 and were married in August 2014.

When asked if he had an entire day to do whatever he wanted, what would he do? Donnie states, “I would wake up cuddling with my wife. Take her and our kids and all of their friends out to breakfast at our favorite diner. Get in a quick workout with my wife, while streaming an episode of The Crown. Go golf with my golfing buddies. Meet my wife and kids for dinner. Go to the Hotel Baker in St. Charles [Illinois] for an old fashioned and my wife’s favorite, a cosmopolitan. Then go back home and get in bed with my wife, where the day started.”

Wahlberg and McCarthy have three children. Donnie has two from a previous marriage, and Jenny has one from her marriage to actor and director John Mallory Asher.

Getting Personal About Blue Bloods Family

Also during the interview, Donnie Wahlberg shares more details about his Blue Bloods family. While chatting about Tom Selleck, who plays his father on the TV series, Wahlberg says, “I call him dad now, and he calls me son. I mean, that’s how we talk to each other off-camera. First, he used to kind of grumble at me, like… ‘This music guy’s kind of weird.’ And then now he calls me son. And he’ll come in and give me a big hug. You know, you get a hug out of Tom Selleck, that’s a big deal.”

Donnie then adds, he has learned a lot from working with Selleck and even had the chance to direct the TV legend during a Blue Bloods episode in 2014.

Prior to joining Blue Bloods in 2010, Donnie Wahlberg starred in the crime drama, Boomtown. He previously received a nomination for Choice Scream at the 2006 Teen Choice Awards for his work in the Saw film series and was a founding member of the 1990’s boy band New Kids on the Block.

Donnie Wahlberg also had roles in the films Zookeeper, Dreamcatcher, The Sixth Sense, Righteous Kill, and Ransom. He also made an appearance in the HBO World War II miniseries Band of Brothers.
