What is it like for new “Blue Bloods” actors to discover they are working with Donnie Wahlberg?
Actress Amy Carlson, who played Donnie Wahlberg‘s wife on “Blue Bloods,” hilariously shared her initial thoughts when she was cast for the show.
“Well, first I was like, ‘Donnie who?'” said Carlson laughing. “But wait! Then they said Donnie Wahlberg and I was like, ‘That guy is really cute. I think I could play his wife. I think that would be a good job.'”
‘”And I used to have his bedsheets from New Kids on the Block,'” said Wahlberg mockingly.
“No comment,” said Carlson.
The two obviously had a hilarious dynamic, which was perfect for playing onscreen husband and wife on “Blue Bloods.”
Why Was Amy Carlson’s Character On “Blue Bloods” Killed Off?
Fans fall in love with television shows because of the characters. So when one of their beloved characters leaves the show, or even worse, dies, they usually aren’t very happy. That was certainly the case for Amy Carlson’s character on “Blue Bloods.” As mentioned previously, Carlson played Linda, Danny Reagan’s (Wahlberg) wife on “Blue Bloods” for seven seasons. However, fans were shocked to discover that Linda had died in a helicopter accident at the start of season eight. There wasn’t any previous notice or hints that Carlson would be leaving the show. So fans were pretty upset. Many fans speculated about why Linda was killed off. Ultimately, Carlson said that her contract with the show ended after season seven and she decided not to renew. However, during an interview, Carlson said that she felt bad for the way her character died without any notice to fans.
“I feel badly that she dies the way she dies. And I did not know they would do that, I was surprised. I wouldn’t have done that,” said Carlson. Carlson also said that she would have been open to coming back for flashback scenes of the accident but producers didn’t want that.
“I think it’s been hard on the fans. I never wanted it to end that way, so I feel sad for the fans,” said Carlson. “Because everyone wants closure, and I hear that a lot from the fans.”
Luckily, the show did focus heavily on Danny grieving his lost wife. At least that helped console fans a bit. Nevertheless, it would have been nice for “Blue Bloods” fans to find some closure for one of their favorite characters on the show.
