The CBS series “Blue Bloods” centers around the Reagans. They are a New York City family that has dedicated themselves to upholding the law. As such, most of them decided that a career in law enforcement was what they should do to help their city.
There is the patriarch Henry Reagan (played by Len Cariou), who rose up the New York City Police Department ranks to police commissioner. At the time of the show, Henry’s son, Frank Reagan (Tom Selleck) followed in his father’s footsteps to also become police commissioner.
Three of Frank’s children became NYPD officers. Joe was killed in the line of duty. Danny (Donnie Wahlberg) is a detective. And, Jamie (Will Estes) decided to join the force after attending Harvard Law School. The fourth of Frank’s children, Erin (Bridget Moynahan) did not become a police officer. She decided she could best serve her city as an assistant district attorney.
Each of the Reagan children has their strengths. During the many seasons of “Blue Bloods,” they have each proven themselves worthy of the challenges put in front of them. And they have also lived up to the Reagan name.
Jamie has especially distinguished himself as a member of the NYPD. Some fans of “Blue Bloods” have taken notice of the good works he had accomplished during his years on the force. And because of his good work, some of these fans believe that Jamie should take on a role other than that of a police sergeant.
Fans of ‘Blue Bloods’ Make the Case for Jamie Reagan to Become a Hostage Negotiator
As part of a recent discussion on Reddit, these “Blue Bloods” fans argued that Jamie should become a hostage negotiator. In arguing for this new role for Jamie, these fans cited his cool head and his ability to relate to others.
“I was rewatching the show and it clicks me that Jaime is great with jumpers and suicide guys so he would be perfect for Hostages Negotiator,” the opening post by Bazz07 said.
For example, user JerseyJedi said: “Jamie has a way of talking to people and a great talent for de-escalating situations throughout the show. He really is a huge hero in any EDP or potential jumper situation. He has an authenticity where other characters intuitively know they can trust him.”
JerseyJedi also said she believed Jamie might just follow in his father’s and grandfather’s footsteps. “Stuff like this is why Jamie will probably be the next Reagan to be NYPD Commissioner (many decades in the future, of course),” the user argued.
User Stitchapuss was very supportive of Jamie becoming a hostage negotiator. “I’m on the same train of thought as you. I’ve watched the series several times and Jaime has that calm and cool way of talking to people, even when he helps those who are mentally or developmentally ill he stays calm and gets results. I would love to see him as a negotiator,” this user posted.
Fans of “Blue Bloods” will just have to wait and see what the future holds for Jamie and the rest of the Reagans. The show’s 12th season will debut on Oct. 1 on CBS.
