“Blue Bloods” actor Donnie Wahlberg is definitely a celebrity. But, he isn’t the only one in his household. His wife, Jenny McCarthy, is also famous in her own right.
For years, McCarthy helped television viewers ring in the New Year from Times Square in New York City. Unsurprisingly while hosting such an event, she was approached by many fans looking to get her autograph or to have a picture take with her.
Because of this, she gave her husband a warning before he went with her to the event for the first time. Donnie Wahlberg talked about this warning during a 2019 interview with Entertainment Tonight in 2019.
“My wife, Jenny (McCarthy) hosts New Year’s Eve in Times Square,” the “Blue Bloods” star said. “And the first time we went she was like, ‘Listen, you know, all the cops they want to take pictures with me and blah, blah, blah. So, please be patient ’cause I’m working hard and I have to talk to all these people.'”
Being a supportive husband, Donnie Wahlberg told his wife that he understood.
“And I said, ‘Yeah, okay, great,'” he recalled.
Turns Out NYPD Officers Wanted to Meet the ‘Blue Bloods’ Star, Not His Wife
Here’s where the story gets interesting. Turns out, thanks to his role as Danny Reagan on the long-running drama “Blue Bloods,” it was Donnie Wahlberg that the New York City Police Department officers wanted to meet on that New Year’s Eve – not his famous wife.
“And, every single cop ran right past her and came up to me, and were like, ‘Blue Bloods’! You do it the best,'” Wahlberg recalled.
Unsurprisingly, this adoration from the officers of one of the most famous police squads in the world really touched the “Blue Bloods” star.
“I couldn’t believe it,” Wahlberg also said. “I was so humbled and honored.”
