If you are a fan of Blue Bloods, which we assume you are since you clicked on this story, then you already know that Will Estes is the man who plays Jameson “Jamie” Reagan on the show. Reagan is a New York City Police Department officer. He’s also the youngest son of the NYC Police Commissioner, Frank Reagan. He is played by the one and only Tom Selleck.

The popular police drama first debuted back in 2010 and Will Estes has been a part of it since the very beginning. In addition to Estes and Selleck, the show also stars other big names like Donnie Wahlberg and Bridget Moynahan.

As it currently stands, there are 11 seasons of Blue Bloods available for all of our viewing pleasure. Not only that but the cast and crew got renewed for a 12th season back in April.

Will Estes’ Recent Interview

But have you ever wondered what goes through the mind of an actor who has had the same role for 12 seasons? Does it get old? Does it get boring? Or does it keep getting better? If you ask Will Estes, Blue Bloods just keeps on getting better. You can ask any of us here at Outsider, as well. We’ll tell you the same thing.

Luckily for us, Sophia Soto with The Nerds of Color was able to interview Estes and ask him those very questions. He explained that it was the best script he had ever read.

“What originally attracted you to the role of Jamie and what has it been like getting to see the character grow throughout the series?” Soto asked the star actor.

Blue Bloods was the best script I had read in a long time, certainly that entire pilot season. It was created by the late Mr. Leonard Goldberg, Mitch Burgess, and Robin Green, who created The Sopranos. It was about a family of cops in New York and it was just more alive and had more potential than anything else I’d read.”

How Did the ‘Blue Bloods’ Star Evolve Over 12 Seasons?

Sophia Soto was also able to ask Will Estes questions about seeing his character evolve over the course of 12 seasons. As you can probably imagine, playing the same character for 12 seasons will definitely force you to learn every little detail about the character.

Estes told Soto that he and his character on Blue Bloods have continued to grow together. But they especially grew together during the show’s first season. It was Estes’ first time ever playing Jamie Reagan and it was Jamie Reagan’s first year as a police officer.

“It’s been great to watch Jamie mature along with my own maturation as an actor. Jamie started as a rookie and I was a rookie at playing Jamie. So I guess we grew together.”
