In general, most jobs have their pros and most jobs have their cons. This is true if even you’re one of the stars of a very popular drama such as the hit CBS show “Blue Bloods.”

During a 2017 interview with Taylor Magazine, one of the famous actors in this family cop drama talked about how there really are downsides to filming the hit series.

That star is actor Will Estes. He plays the character of officer Jamie Reagan in the family cop drama. As fans are aware, Jamie originally did not want to follow in the footsteps of many of his family members and become a New York City police officer. Jamie even attended Harvard Law School. That’s how serious he was about not going into the family business.

Later, however, he decided that he wanted to be part of the New York City Police Department like his grandfather, Henry Reagan (played by Len Cariou), his father New York City Police Commissioner Frank Reagan (played by Tom Selleck), and his brothers, including Detective Danny Reagan (played by Donnie Wahlberg) before him.

So, what is it about filming the family cop drama “Blue Bloods” that actor Will Estes really dislikes?

Turns out, one of the challenges of filming the show involves how quickly the cast and crew are required to film and put together an episode.

“Sometimes it’s a difficult pace,” Estes said of filming episodes of “Blue Bloods.” “It can be a difficult schedule and you have to fit a lot in in a short period of time. We have to shoot as much as we can shoot in an eight-day schedule where we’re shooting an entire episode.”

There is another factor that can make filming “Blue Bloods” difficult for actors such as Will Estes. That factor is the chilly New York weather.

“Winter in New York can be a big challenge,” Will Estes also said. “It’s hard to feel like you’re doing some of your best work when you can’t feel half your face and you think, ‘Oh no, I’m not a good actor anymore. Do I look right?’ When your face is numb, the winter can be a big challenge.”

During the 2017 interview, “Blue Bloods” actor Will Estes also talked about the one thing he really enjoyed about filming the hit television series. Since it’s a cop drama, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that he enjoyed playing a law enforcement officer.

“That part is really fun, that’s my favorite part. Running around chasing bad guys – it really is a ball,” Estes also said.

Will Estes and the cast of the “Blue Bloods” returned to work on the show during July 2021. They are hard at work filming the show’s 12th season.
