Amanda Kloots, the wife of late Blue Bloods actor Nick Cordero, took to her Instagram on Monday (June 5th) to pay an emotional tribute to him on the one-year anniversary of his death.
“Today hurts, there is no other way around it,” Amanda begins the post, which features adorable pictures of her and Nick together. “One year ago, you left us and became our angel in heaven.” She then recalls that at the time of his death, Nick was surrounded by love and Zed Zeppelin was playing on Spotify.
She describes what happened as the unthinkable and was her biggest fear. “I used to tell you all the time, ‘Don’t you dare go anywhere. If I lost you, I don’t know what I’d do.’”
Amanda says been a day in the past year that Nick wasn’t missed, thought of, or talked about. “Thank you for being our guardian angel, for sending me signs, for being my DJ in heaven. I know you’re just 2” away.”
Amanda Kloots and the Blue Bloods actor were married in 2017 and had their son in 2019. Nick was diagnosed with COVID-19 in the spring of 2020 and was put on a ventilator upon the diagnosis. In April 2020, he had his right leg amputated due to blood clots caused by the virus. He then had surgery on his lungs and had a tracheostomy tube placed. On July 5, 2020, Nick passed away at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles at the age of 41 after nearly 100 days in the hospital.
Along with Blue Bloods, Nick took on various TV and theatre roles, including Rock of the Ages, A Bronx Tale, Waitress, A Stand Up Guy, Mob Town, and Queer as Folk.
Donnie Wahlberg Talks Working With Nick Cordero on Blue Bloods
During an episode on The Talk, Amanda Kloots chatted with Donnie Wahlberg about him working with Nick on Blue Bloods. Cordero portrayed Victor Lugo in the 8th season of Blue Bloods. Lugo is notably the incarcerated archenemy of Danny Reagan (Donnie Wahlberg).
“I was really blessed to work with Nick,” the Blue Bloods star states. “[Nick] was so fun, so outgoing, and just larger than life.”
Donnie also says to Amanda her spirit through the whole experience is considered an inspiration to him. “I can see why you were the love of his life. You, in the most trying of times, were just a ray of light and positivity.”
The Blue Bloods actor then says he was trying to be like Amanda during his mom’s health issues last year. By really celebrate every moment with her.
“Please know that it meant a lot to me. You don’t have to thank me… I try to stay grateful every day for the blessings that I have and that we have in our lives. He was certainly a blessing in ours.”
Donnie then adds that Nick was part of the Blue Bloods family. During his show time on the set, he made an impact on the rest of the cast. “He was a huge part of the Blue Bloods family.”
