“Blue Bloods” star Marisa Ramirez isn’t a member of the Reagan family on the hit CBS crime drama. She’s not disappointed, either.
“I’m very grateful to have such an amazing job,” Ramirez, who plays Detective Maria Baez, says in an interview with Dan Levine of PopCulture. “And, you know, especially right now who knows where I’d be. I’ve created a life for myself here on the East Coast and I had a kid and so I can still be Mom and have work.
“Because I am not a Reagan, I get those extra days off,” Ramirez says. “It’s worked out beautifully and I’m having a good time. So, not jealous, no. I would like to have some of what they are eating sometimes at the dinner table. It looks really good.”
‘Blue Bloods’ Actress Joined Show In the Third Season With Recurring Role
Ramirez joined “Blue Bloods” in its third season in a recurring role. Then she was given a full-time spot in the show’s fourth season and has been on the CBS hit show ever since. Ramirez gets to work alongside Donnie Wahlberg, who plays Detective Danny Reagan. In the show, Danny and Maria have been friends for almost 20 years.
When Ramirez is talking about missing out on the dinner scenes, she’s also talking about being on the set longer. “Blue Bloods” will enter its 12th season coming up this fall on CBS. Tom Selleck stars as NYPD Commissioner Frank Reagan, but he has one heck of a supporting cast.
Selleck, Wahlberg, Len Cariou [Retired NYPD Commissioner Henry Reagan], Bridget Moynahan [Assistant District Attorney Erin Reagan], and Will Estes [Sergeant Jamie Reagan] have been on the show since its first season.
Wahlberg Likes The Freedom His Role Offers Him On CBS Drama
Speaking of Wahlberg, he talked about his role in a 2010 interview with Daily Actor.
The “New Kids on the Block” original member likes “the freedom” he gets to have with playing Danny Reagan, a character he’s been connected with since the show’s first season.
“I think a great day playing Danny is when I remember to be free and try something different every day,” Wahlberg said.
“Sometimes things are written a certain way that they kind of guide an actor down a certain road,” he says. “And my favorite days are the days that even though I’m being guided by the script down a certain road, I’m still able to make discoveries and try things that are completely free and off the cuff.”
Wahlberg is married to actress-comedian Jenny McCarthy. They currently live in Chicago. Wahlberg, though, spends time in New York City as “Blue Bloods” is filmed on the streets of Gotham.
Expect to see Wahlberg and Ramirez working together again as the 12th season rolls around on CBS.
