“Blue Bloods” star Bridget Moynahan was no stranger to the silver screen when she landed her role on the show. In fact, she had already spent a decade starring in movies and making appearances on television shows before her time with “Blue Bloods” started in 2010.

However, there’s one key difference between her work with “Blue Bloods” and all her previous roles. What’s that key difference? Time. Before “Blue Bloods” Moynahan had never spent more than a year with a project. Even her reoccurring roles on television shows like “Sex and the City” only lasted for one year. So, “Blue Bloods” was the first time Moynahan got to develop a character over time.

During an interview in 2014, Bridget Moynahan talked about why she enjoyed being able to put more time into developing her character. At the time of the interview, “Blue Bloods” had just released its fourth season.

“It’s nice to be on a show where you can develop a character and watch it grow,” said Moynahan. “And they’re giving me more material this past year. So, they’re letting me play a little bit more, challenging me a little more.”

Moynahan added that the dynamics between the characters evolved as well and she enjoyed being a part of that.

“My daughter is growing up. There’s just a lot of things we get to play with,” said Moynahan. “And the cast is fantastic. We really all get along. So, it’s nice to be on a show like that.”

And that was only at season four. Just imagine who much character development has gone into Moynahan’s character, Erin Reagan, today. That’s 11 years of character evolution!

Bridget Moynahan Hoped For A Little Romantic Drama On ‘Blue Bloods’

Erin Reagan hasn’t had the best of luck romantically on “Blue Bloods”. It all started when she was just 19 years old and met Jack Boyle who she later married at Morgan Hall. Now, Reagan claims that Morgan Hall is bad luck. Eventually, the two divorced but not before having their daughter, Nicky. At first, Jack refused to sign the divorce papers but eventually gave full-custody rights to Erin. There was a brief moment where Erin and Jack seemed to reconcile. But Erin broke it off before it could become anything more. She didn’t want to hurt Nicky because she knew the relationship would never end with happily ever after. Since then, Erin has met a few men and gone on a few dates. She even dated a fellow District Attorney Charles “Charley” Rossellini. But the relationship didn’t last.

So, will Erin Regan find lasting love? We don’t know. But we do know that Bridget Moynahan likes when things get a little heated in the love department. During the same interview, Moynahan talked about Erin’s love interest and her ex-husband. Moynahan said that she hopes both of them come back.

“Technically, I had a new love interest, dating interest. So I’m hoping he comes back because it was really fun. But also, I hope my ex-husband on the show comes back as well. So, I’m torn,” said Moynahan. But I don’t know where they’re going to take it next season. They don’t really tell us.”

We’d be up for an interesting “Blue Bloods” love triangle!
