“Blue Bloods” star Donnie Wahlberg believes the beauty of “Blue Bloods” lies in the multiplicity of viewpoints that are represented on the show.
In a 2016 interview with CBS News, Wahlberg delved into the differences between his character and other characters – for example, Danny Reagan’s sister Erin Reagan, played by Bridget Moynahan – in terms of how they see the events that take place on the show.
“Everyone in the show has their own perspective,” Wahlberg said. “All the characters take a different point of view. And Danny is sort of a hardline cop – you know, he takes a hardline cop position. But in some ways we all, all the different characters, have to sort of see the other side of it in some way. And ultimately, that’s what happens.”
“But the beauty of the show is, everyone has a different point of view on these things,” Wahlberg added. “And we get to see it from all the different points of view. And hopefully with the audience, it can help them to understand the different points of view, too.”

‘Blue Bloods’ Star Doesn’t Look Too Far Ahead
After Danny Reagan’s wife Linda died and actress Amy Carlson left the show, Wahlberg focused on portraying his grieving character. But Danny has to move on sometime, and fans have speculated about whether it could be with his partner, Maria Baez (Marisa Ramirez).
However, in an interview with TV Insider this May, showrunner Kevin Wade played down the possibility of a Danny-Baez romance.
“We recognize it and certainly the actors like each other, in front of the camera and between setups,” Wade told TV Insider of the potential for a romance between the two partners. “I’m gonna use Sam and Diane from Cheers and really age myself here, but once it happens, there’s nowhere to go. There really aren’t stories in happy couples and there are definitely not stories in police detectives on the job having a personal relationship with their partner.”
Wade added that they are limited to 43 minutes per episode, and as an ensemble drama, they already struggle to fit all the characters into the show. If Danny and Baez started dating, they would probably need to have other partners, which would add more characters and more scenes to a show that is already jam-packed.
So, tough luck, Baez fans: looks like she and Danny will remain just friends for the time being.
