‘Blue Bloods’ Star Donnie Wahlberg Looks Back at Producing His Brother Mark’s Album in ’91 Throwback Pic

What can’t the Wahlberg brothers do? Mark began his career as the frontman of hip-hop group Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch. He is now one of the biggest A-list movie stars in the world. “Blue Bloods” star Donnie gained international fame for his singing and dancing abilities as part of New Kids on the Block. He went on to his own successful acting career. And he is apparently quite the producer. He posted a throwback photo on Instagram of himself in the studio circa 1991.

Apparently, he produced an entire album for his brother Mark. Indeed, according to All Music, the “Blue Bloods” star was responsible for producing, arranging, and mixing Marky Mark’s debut album, “Music for the People.” Yes, that is the album that includes perhaps the most famous song of Mark Wahlberg’s short-lived rap career, “Good Vibrations.”

“Blue Bloods” fans and Blockheads alike will likely enjoy the 30-year throwback photo Donnie Wahlberg shared on Instagram. It’s hard to believe 30 years have passed. But Donnie definitely looks like he could almost be a teenager here. In reality, he was born in 1969, so that would put him in his early twenties. He was already a star with New Kids on the Block for a few years before this photo.

“To the studio life in ‘91 at the age of 21 — in the days of SSL boards, DAT’s, cassettes, AMPEX tape, Otari reel to reel, analog sound, S900 samplers, live musicians, live DJ’s and Girbaud Jeans (😂),” Donnie Wahlberg began the caption.

The ‘Blue Bloods’ Star’s Fans Love Seeing This Side of the Actor and Musician

The “Blue Bloods” star’s fans seemed to love the content, taking an interest in his production work. It’s a side of Donnie Wahlberg that they rarely get to see, whether they’re coming from New Kids on the Block fandom or his acting.

“you totally need to do a video, post more or even talk about what it was like being a producer at a young age and the process,” one interested fan commented.

“I have a feeling you have done this recently too. Or are just about ready to….” another wrote, anticipating an upcoming release of new music from Wahlberg.

Donnie Wahlberg Says Few Things Can Rival ‘Creative High’ of Producing Music

Donnie Wahlberg stays pretty busy working on “Blue Bloods” and playing shows with “New Kids on the Block” these days. But perhaps that fan was onto something when she suggested that he might be working on some new music.

“There are few feelings greater than the creative high of producing music (on this day it was Marky Mark aka @markwahlberg’s album). Then leaving a 15-hour session and listening in my car to the song I made — over and over ‘til I got demo-itis!” Donnie Wahlberg continued in the Instagram caption.
