Donnie Wahlberg couldn’t be more proud of his stepson. On Monday, the veteran actor posted a heartfelt tribute to his stepson, Evan, in honor of his high school graduation.

“So proud of my stepson @evanjasher and his BFF @jkostas95 — for graduating St Charles East High School #ClassOf2021! Way to go guys,” he began the post. “Also, to the entire graduating class of 2021 — congrats on a job well done! Not sure how you all did it, under the circumstances, but you did — salute!” He paired the caption with a photo of his stepson in his cap and gown alongside his friend.

Wahlberg has been Evan’s stepdad since 2014 when he married Evan’s mom and TV and radio personality, Jenny McCarthy.

How Donnie Wahlberg Recruited Evan’s Help for Proposal

Although McCarthy and Wahlberg have a fairytale romance, she wouldn’t meet her future husband until 2012. While shooting an episode of Bravos’ “Watch What Happens Live,” the two had their first interaction. Like McCarthy, Wahlberg was divorced and had two sons from a previous marriage.

A year after their first meeting, Wahlberg appeared on McCarthy’s talk show. After taping, Wahlberg worked up the nerve to ask her out, and within a year of dating, the couple decided to get married.

During her time on “The View,” McCarthy announced the news, noting that her son Evan helped with the proposal.

“This weekend I was sitting with Donnie and he went into the other room and out came Evan with a card that said ‘Will,'” she remembered. “And he ran away and came back with a card that said ‘You,’ and I knew what was happening and I just started crying. Then he came out with a card that said ‘Marry,’ but it was spelled ‘Mary,’ and the last time Donnie came out with Evan and Evan’s shirt said ‘Me?’ and he was holding the ring. He asked, ‘Will you marry me?’ Of course, said yes.”

After getting hitched, the couple began filming their show called “Donnie Loves Jenny.” After three seasons, the couple decided to end production to give Evan privacy as he navigates the awkward high school years.

“He doesn’t want film crews in his house and I can understand that, especially those teenage years,” McCarthy said.

Today, McCarthy is a judge on “The Masked Singer.” She also hosts a popular show on Sirius XM called “Dirty, Sexy, Funny.”

Wahlberg continues to star in the TV series “Blue Bloods.”
