‘Blue Bloods’ Star Donnie Wahlberg Wants to Honor Tuskegee Airmen and Help Next Generation Take Flight

Anyone who follows Blue Bloods star Donnie Wahlberg knows he likes to give back however he can. In this case, he wants to honor Tuskegee Airmen and is asking for your help to allow the next generation to quite literally take flight.

Voicing his plea on Instagram, he asks his “Blockhead” family to think about giving to the cause. Included with the post is a brief introduction video about the organization and how you can help.

“Calling on my friends and Blockhead Family to please consider giving, anything that you can generously give, to @tuskegeenext during this 12 Days of Giving!” Wahlberg captioned the post. “In honor of The Tuskegee Airmen — @tuskegeenext is helping the youth take flight, literally! I’ve not only witnessed Tuskegee Next cadets soaring from afar — I’ve actually taken flight with them. Please help me in supporting this life-changing organization! Thank you!”

To be specific, Tuskegee alumni are hosting a 12 days of giving fundraiser. The organization is striving to raise $30,000 to fund a cadet’s summer aviation program enrollment. Additionally, donations will help buy things like headsets, flight bags, and more to aid airmen in their journey to become pilots.

The Wahlberg family is quite passionate about this organization. So much so when Alma Wahlberg passed away, Tuskegee NEXT created an option to donate for “The Alma Wahlberg Wings of Promise Scholarship.” Similar to their 12 days of giving, the scholarship funds Tuskegee NEXT cadets’ program costs.

If you’d like to contribute to any of these mentioned causes, you can through their official website.

Donnie Wahlberg Writes Emotional Post to Fans After American Music Awards

Donnie Wahlberg enjoys giving in every sense of the word. Besides helping with causes like the Tuskegee Airmen, he gives credit and thanks where it’s due. After performing with New Edition for the American Music Awards, he penned an emotional letter to fans and his band’s inspiration.

For those who may not know, besides starring in Blue Bloods, Wahlberg also has a band named New Kids On the Block. During this year’s AMAs, the band not only got to perform but did so with their inspiration, New Edition. Naturally, Wahlberg was thrilled about the opportunity. After the show, he posted an emotional thank you to both New Edition and his fans on Instagram.

“Taking a moment to acknowledge our fans for always acknowledging our inspirations — @newedition,” Wahlberg wrote. “Thank you #Blockheads for supporting @newedition and @nkotb this weekend, at the @amas — but thank you also for always recognizing @newedition’s impact on us. As much as you love us, you always give @newedition the credit and respect that they so truly deserve. I’ve said it a million times — ‘without New Edition there is no New Kids On the Block’ — but when our fans take the baton and spread the word too, it means so much more than you could ever know. Thank you.”
