‘Blue Bloods’ Star Steve Schirripa Gives Sweet Shout Out to Wife for Completing NYC Marathon

A lot of people view Blue Bloods star Steve Schirripa as a big tough guy. But on Sunday evening he was just a big soft teddy bear. Schirripa took to social media to give a shoutout to his wife, Laura Lemos, for completing her ninth marathon.

We all know and love Steve Schirripa for his role in the CBS police drama Blue Bloods. In the show, Schirripa plays the part of Anthony Abetemarco. He’s a retired detective in the New York City Police Department. Often seen working with Erin Reagan (Bridget Moynahan), Abetemarco currently works as an investigator for the New York County District Attorney’s Office. He became a regular on the show in Season 6.

He is also well known for his work on The Sopranos, Fear and Loathing Las Vegas, and Must Love Dogs. In The Sopranos, Schirripa portrayed mobster Bobby Baccalieri. On Sunday, however, Schirripa played the role of a loving and supportive husband when he congratulated his wife after she completed her ninth marathon.

Blue Bloods fans were some of the first to offer up congratulatory messages to Laura as well.

“Wow! How amazing for her! Congratulations!” one fan commented.

“Yaaay! NY is the best!!! big congrats!” wrote another Instagram user.

Meanwhile, this isn’t the first time Schirripa’s wife has completed a marathon. As a matter of fact, Laura just ran the Virtual Boston Marathon back in October.

‘Blue Bloods’ Star Turned 64 in September

That’s right, Outsiders — Steve Schirripa officially turned 64 years old back on September 3. To celebrate the occasion, his co-star Bridget Moynahan was one of the first to wish him a happy birthday.

“Wishing my @BlueBloods_CBS partner @StevenSchirripa a very happy birthday!!” Moynahan wrote at the time.

Schirripa and Moynahan are close friends — both on the show and in real life. She explained in a 2020 interview that she was happy to have him join the Blue Bloods family.

“He is, he’s great, you know. I was thrilled that they found me somebody that not only looked the part but really feels like the part. And he, um, he’s kind of dropped right into the role.”

Schirripa first joined the cast of Blue Bloods back in 2015. Since that time, he has appeared in more than 90 episodes. We can’t wait to see more of Schirripa and the rest of the cast when the new episode drops on Friday.
