Many people know “Blue Bloods” star Tom Selleck’s daughter, Hannah, because of her famous parents. But she also made a name for herself as a model and pro athlete too.

When Hannah Selleck was born in 1988, her dad had just wrapped up the final season of hit crime show “Magnum P.I.” He’d also just had a big role in the 1987 film “Three Men and a Baby.” So, by that point, Tom Selleck was a pretty regular household name.

But the “Blue Bloods” star scaled back his acting career after his daughter was born, according to Best Life. He wanted to focus on raising a family, so he moved Hannah and his wife, Jillie Joan Mack, to a 65-acre ranch outside of Los Angeles. Growing up on this ranch, Hannah discovered her life’s passion, which was surprisingly not acting.

Starting at the age of four, Hannah rode horses on the family’s ranch, eventually taking lessons at a professional riding school. Foxfield Riding School is a highly acclaimed training ground for equestrians out of Westlake Village, California.

Even though she didn’t follow in her family’s footsteps, Hannah told “Equestrian Living” earlier this year that the “Blue Bloods” actor and his wife fully supported her dream.

“Because [my parents are] both artists, they believe in the idea that you have to be very passionate about what you do to be successful,” Hannah said. “They encouraged me to be passionate about it and immersed in it, and from there it was kind of on me how much I wanted it. They always let me take the lead.”

The “Blue Bloods” actor’s daughter eventually started working with individual trainers and competing. She took home a few first-and-second-place medals in the late 2000s, all while she was in college. Hannah studied communications at Loyola Marymount University in California while competing as a high-level amateur rider.

“My parents were generous enough to support the riding and keep my good horses while I was in school. But the idea was that I was going to school to prepare for a career that could then support my riding,” Hannah said.

But the more time she spent at school, the more she missed her horses.

“It was really the first time that I’d been away from the horses for so long, and I wasn’t very fulfilled,” Hannah said. So, the “Blue Bloods” star’s daughter decided to go pro as an equestrian.

What’s Hannah Selleck Up to Now?

To support her full-time gig as a pro horseback rider, Hannah decided to open up Descanso Farm in 2010. Equestrian Living calls it a “boutique breeding and training operation named for her family’s Rancho de Descanso, which means ‘Ranch of Rest.'”

Since then, Hannah has been breeding and raising horses while also competing. On the side, she also started modeling, putting the “Blue Bloods” actor’s good genes to use. Best Life noted that her biggest modeling gig was as the face of Reviver, an LA-based company that makes odor-removing freshening wipes. But Hannah’s main focus is still working with horses.

“You want to enjoy that moment that you’re in—whether it’s in the show ring or training the young horses at home—because we are so, so lucky to work with these animals every day,” she said.
