“Blue Bloods” star Vanessa Ray had a steep learning curve when she started on the show.

The actress, who had never held a gun before, had to learn to wield one with convincing authority. And overall, she said she had to work a lot on her physical presence to portray Eddie Janko.

“I felt really out of my body when I first started this job,” Ray recalled in a 2019 interview with CBS’s Watch Magazine. She added, “I didn’t expect that. I thought I’d be able to adapt easily. But it took me a while. One of my first days on set I was pointing a gun and someone walked by and my gut reaction was to use my hand to cover the barrel of the gun. So I’ve had to work a lot on physicality.”

‘Blue Bloods’ Star on What the Future Holds for Jamko

Together with her partner-turned-husband Jamie Reagan, Ray’s character is one-half of “Jamko,” the fan nickname for the pairing. The fan-favorite couple met on the force and ultimately got married. The two of them have weathered plenty of obstacles before, but the future is not without its share of difficulties, Ray believes.

In an interview last year with HollywoodLife.com, Ray mulled over the prospect that the couple might bring a brand-new little Reagan into the family. She said they’re basically on the fence about it.

“I’m the worst keep of secrets. So no, I don’t know if they’re going to start a family soon. But it’s something they talk about a lot,” Ray said. “Eddie and Jamie fell in love being equals. And one or both of them would have to step back from a bit of their career that they love so much [to start a family.] There are days where they say, ‘Yes, of course we’re going to start a family.’ And then there’s days where she goes, ‘I don’t think I could give this up so casually.’ It’s interesting to see them play around.”

But Janko and Reagan have both had their struggles in the marriage already – for example, with each of their in-laws. Janko’s father went to jail after it was revealed that his company was involved in a Ponzi scheme. And Janko has not always felt at ease among the Reagans.

Still, for better or worse, the couple is stuck with each other. And how they will manage to work things out is one of the lingering questions for Season 12.

Showrunner Downplays Possibility of Jamko Kids

In a recent interview with TV Insider, “Blue Bloods” showrunner Kevin Wade downplayed the possibility that Janko and Reagan will have kids anytime soon.

“We talk about it sometimes,” Wade said. “I think that would be something that would come out of a combination of our fictional lives and their real lives.”

“For now, we’re just gonna play probably Jamie’s promotion,” he added.

Looks like “Jamko” will have plenty going on in their lives even without the addition of a new member of the Reagan clan. And fans can tune in for more “Blue Bloods” when Season 12 hits the airwaves this autumn.
