Fans of the popular CBS drama “Blue Bloods” have known that the show’s 12th season will debut on Friday, Oct. 1, for a while now.
That is, obviously, great news for viewers who can’t wait to find out what is going on with the Reagan family and company. But, when should fans expect the other season 12 episodes of “Blue Bloods” to air for the first time?
Matt & Jess TV Commentary offers some ideas on what viewers can expect from their favorite family cop drama come this fall. According to the website, they are basing what they think could happen with the show’s schedule on what happened during its 10th season. The schedule for the 11th season of the show was, like many other shows, impacted by the global coronavirus pandemic.
Fans of ‘Blue Bloods’ Could Have 10 New Episodes to Watch Before Christmas
So, assuming COVID-19 does not cause any major delays during the filming of season 12, when should “Blue Bloods” fans expect to get new episodes this fall and in 2022?
Based on the season 10 model, the website is making a case that nine or 10 new episodes of the series could hit the small screen before Christmas. The show’s filming schedule thus far – production on season 12 began in July – would allow for this to happen. It is also believed that the filming of “multiple episodes” has already been completed. This, of course, is a very good sign.
Looking at a calendar, after Friday, Oct. 1, there are 11 Fridays before Christmas Eve, which is on a Friday this year. That would give the show enough days to air nine or 10 episodes, even if they skipped the day after Thanksgiving.
What about the “Blue Bloods” schedule for 2022? Well, according to Matt & Jess, this will be influenced by different factors. One of those is how many total episodes will be part of season 12. The other is whether or not the upcoming season will be the last one for the series.
They speculate that the upcoming season could have as few as 18 or as many as 22 episodes. And should this season prove to be the last for the show, fans might get, for example, a finale that has a longer run time than a typical “Blue Bloods” episode. Maybe a two-hour event?
Of course, this is all speculation. Hopefully, fans will get a schedule very, very soon.
Here’s the Title of the First Episode of Season 12
