‘Blue Bloods’: Where You’ve Seen Detective Maria Baez Actor Marisa Ramirez Before the Show

“Blue Bloods” has its fair share of familiar Hollywood faces.

Tom Selleck and his iconically bushy mustache starred in hit projects like “Magnum, P.I.,” “In & Out,” and “Three Men and a Baby.” You may even recognize Bridget Moynahan, or Erin Reagan, as one of the iconic bartenders in the cult-classic 2000 movie “Coyote Ugly.”

So, where do fans of the 10-season-long police crime show possibly recognize Marisa Ramirez? She portrays Detective Maria Baez on the show who is partners with Danny Reagan, played by Donnie Wahlberg.

We’ve seen her go through a lot while working in the 54th Precinct alongside members of the Reagan family. However, similar to many of the other characters, we’ve seen her also navigate the tricky world outside of her policing career. She was once a part of the Joint Bank Robbery Task Force before becoming a detective.

As for drama, because every cop show needs a good splash of that, Maria Baez fell in love with the charming Jimmy Mosely (played by Johnathon Schaech.) The only problem is he happened to be married. There’s also quite a bit of drama that follows her brother, Javier. He’s an addict in recovery that now works as a DEA informant. That is until he heroically saves his sister’s life on “Blue Bloods” during a drug raid and gets killed in the process.

All in all, Marisa Ramirez has proved quite the entertaining and respectable character on the popular crime show since 2013.

Other Key Roles for ‘Blue Bloods’ Star

It’s not her only role similar to “Blue Bloods.” You may recognize her for playing the recurring character Officer Riley Dunn in “Body of Proof” in 2013. She also played a series regular on the Lifetime show, “Against the Wall.” Not surprisingly, she portrays another detective on this series as well from 2011. Ramirez also had a role in the Starz series “Spartacus: Gods of the Arena” where she played Melitta in 2011.

Perhaps her biggest role prior to “Blue Bloods” was when she landed a part in the long-running medical show “General Hospital” in 2000. Here she played supermodel Gia Campbell and was nominated for ALMA and NAACP Awards for her popular performance.

If you watched “Days of Our Lives,” “The Bold and the Beautiful,” “Against the Wall,” “The Young and the Restless,” and “Mental” you may recognize Ramirez. These roles varied from guest positions to contracts to shorter summer series.

One of her most entertaining appearances was actually in an iconic music video. Marisa Ramirez appeared in the heartthrob ’90s group, the Backstreet Boys, video for “As Long as You Love Me.”

According to her IMDb page, Ramirez does not have any other upcoming projects being filmed or in production. She has 37 projects listed on her page. Besides a role in “The Extendables,” Ramirez’s most recent appearance has been in “Blue Bloods.”

It appears that her passion is for soap operas, police dramas, and hospital-centric television shows.
