Over the last 12 seasons, “Blue Bloods” has seen its fair share of famous faces appearing as guest stars alongside the Reagan family. We’ve compiled a list of some of our favorites, courtesy of PopCulture.

Most recently, fans got to see Treat Williams appear in Season 12 Episode 3. He resurfaced as Frank Reagan’s (Tom Selleck) old friend Lenny Ross. In this episode, we saw Williams offer Frank a new job as the NFL Senior Vice President of Security. Frank ended up turning him down, but it was good to see the friends reunite again. Williams has appeared in five “Blue Bloods” episodes since 2016.

Next up is Ed Asner. The iconic actor, unfortunately, passed away on Aug. 29, 2021, at 91 years old. His March 2020 “Blue Bloods” role would be one of the last TV roles of his career. In Season 10 Episode 15, Asner played Chuck Kennedy, yet another friend of Frank’s. His home gets invaded, and Frank debates whether or not to help him out.

Going back to the beginning, “Supergirl” star Melissa Benoist appeared in one of the very first “Blue Bloods” episodes. She played Renee, a friend of a rape victim, in Season 1 Episode 3, “Privilege.” This was one of Benoist’s earliest roles in her career, aside from “Law & Order: Criminal Intent” and “Tennesee,” a 2008 movie. She would go on to play a huge role in “Glee,” and obviously in the CW’s superhero franchise, “Supergirl.”

You might recognize guest star Karen Allen best from her iconic role in “Raiders of the Lost Ark” and “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull” as Marion Ravenwood. Several years after her Indiana Jones stints, Allen appeared in Season 4 Episode 14 of the CBS crime show as Betty Lowe. In the episode, titled “Unfinished Business,” Lowe asks Frank to catch her daughter’s killer.

What Other Guest Star Have We Seen on ‘Blue Bloods?’

Another recent addition to the “Blue Bloods” guest star list is Aasif Mandvi. The comedian and actor appeared in five episodes throughout 2018 and 2020, playing Erin Reagan’s (Bridget Moynahan) partner in the DA’s office. Mandvi wrapped up his role as Samar Charwell in Season 11 Episode 2, “In the Name of the Father.”

Fans might also remember seeing Oscar-winning actress Whoopi Goldberg on the show. She debuted as City Council Speaker Regina Thomas in 2016, making another appearance in 2017 and again in 2020. We’ll have to wait and see if Goldberg will reprise her “Blue Bloods” role in the coming seasons.

And of course, we can’t forget “The Sopranos” and “Goodfellas” actress Lorraine Bracco. She played a major role in “Blue Bloods” in Season 8, starring in five episodes as Mayor Margaret Dutton. Frank constantly clashed with Dutton, who didn’t quite share the same viewpoints with him. Bracco’s character left the show late in Season 8 after confirming she wouldn’t run for a full term.
