The cast and crew of Blue Bloods are like family when they are together filming on set. But that doesn’t mean they are calling each other to hang out outside of work.

It would make sense that some movie stars and celebrities regularly hang out with their fellow A-listers. But Blue Bloods star Will Estes says that the cast of the popular police drama already spends enough time together. So, they are just fine with spending time at home when they are away from the set of the show.

Estes explained as much during a 2017 interview with Taylor Magazine. He was asked if the Blue Bloods cast gets along as well in real life as they do on the show.

“Yeah well, we spend enough time together!” Estes replied. “People ask if we hang out outside of work and we’re always like, ‘not really, but we spend so much time at work together and we get along so well.'”

For the readers out there who may not know, Estes has been a part of the show since its very inception. He is known for his starring role as Jameson “Jamie” Reagan, an officer of the New York City Police Department. His character is also the youngest son of the New York City Police Commissioner, Frank Reagan. Reagan is played by Tom Selleck.

Cast and Crew of ‘Blue Bloods’ Are Great Friends While They’re at Work

The hit show made its official debut back in 2010. In addition to Will Estes and Tom Selleck, it also features big names in the industry such as Donnie Wahlberg and Bridget Moynahan. And they all get along great while they’re at work. But, Estes said they aren’t calling each other to hang out in their off time.

“We are great friends,” he said. “When Saturday comes around, we’re not usually calling each other to hang out but we do get along great, we are like a family.”

As you can imagine, it is not always easy for a star actor to balance their work-life and their life at home. In fact, in some cases, it can be extremely difficult. Actors often go long periods away from their families, and some deal with a lack of steady income and steady schedules. And of course, with fame, there is a loss of privacy that comes with it, so that can be another strain on at-home relationships.

With all of that said, it must be nice to have the kind of chemistry on set that the cast of Blue Bloods has. After all, when you spend that much time together, it’s basically like having a second family.

“Many of the cast and crew spend more time with each other than they do with their real families,” Estes explained. “It’s a very full-time job you know. 99 percent of the time we all get along. It’s been a pleasure.”
