‘Blue Bloods’: Why Danny Reagan and Maria Baez Shouldn’t Get Together in the Upcoming Seasons

Going into the 12th season of “Blue Bloods” fans have many questions.

Will the new character Joe Hill become a major player in the show? Will Frank Reagan (Tom Selleck) continued to serve as the commissioner of the New York City Police Department? Is there a romantic future for Erin Reagan (Bridget Moynahan) and her ex-husband, Jack Boyle (Peter Hermann)? Could a baby be in the future for Jamie Reagan (Will Estes) and Eddie Janko (Vanessa Ray).

Another major fan question is whether or not a romance between Danny Reagan (Donnie Wahlberg) and Maria Baez (Marisa Ramirez) is on the horizon on “Blue Bloods.” This speculation is fairly justified. After all, the two have been partners since the show’s third season. They have always had great chemistry and more importantly, mutual respect for one another.

Also, Danny did invite her to have Sunday family dinner with him and the rest of the Reagan family. Having a non-family member at the Reagan family dinner table has rarely been on “Blue Bloods.”

The death of Danny’s husband, Linda (Amy Carlson), was revealed during the show’s eighth season. So, he has had a few years to mourn her. So, could it be time for him to move on with someone else? And, could that someone be his fellow detective and partner on the NYPD?

While there are fans of “Blue Bloods” who want to see the relationship between Danny and Maria become more than just professional colleagues and friends, there are others who definitely do not want that to happen.

Some of these fans recently voiced their opinions on Reddit. They responded to a post titled, “Am I the only one who doesn’t want to see Danny and Baez get together?”

Fans of ‘Blue Bloods’ Make Case for Why Danny and Maria Should Remain Friends

“There’s people clamoring for a Danny/Maria Baez ship? That would be god-awful…pat and redundant. They work best as partners and friends who complement each other. …” eremite00 posted to get the discussion going.

Other users argued that “Blue Bloods” should not go for another storyline that follows two fellow police officers fall in love.

“Nope, I am right there with you! Been there done that with Jamie and Eddy!” CmS2117 shared.

Here’s what Navitach had to say about this possible “Blue Bloods” story: “No, you are definitely not the only one. There were some posts here during the last few weeks of the season discussing this very thing. Jamie and Eddie already got together and got married; we don’t need another professional-partners-turn-romantic-partners storyline on the show. It would be unprofessional of them to do so, and it would be a lazy cop-out (no pun intended) by the writers and producers.”

Still another user made a case that Danny and Maria seem to have a relationship similar to siblings, not a romantic one.

“Not just you. Besides partners, I always thought of Danny and Baez as brother and sister,” pikachu-atlanta posted.

Fans will just have to watch the show’s 12th season. It is set to premiere on Oct. 1.
