“Blue Bloods” likes to stir the pot with its own characters. With Danny Reagan and Maria Baez working together, are there flickers of love?

Obviously, Danny, played by Donnie Wahlberg, has been moving on with life after his wife Linda’s death. Baez, played by Marisa Ramirez, has been working alongside Danny on “Blue Bloods” for a bit now. Ramirez joined the show in its third season.

Last season, Baez even landed a coveted invitation to the Reagan dinner table. But enough with that stuff. You want to know if there is love in the air for these two. Well, “Blue Bloods” executive producer Kevin Wade addresses that point in an interview with TV Insider.

‘Blue Bloods’ Executive Producer Addresses Possible Reagan-Baez Couple

“We recognize it and certainly the actors like each other, in front of the camera and between setups,” Wade said. But “there really aren’t stories in happy couples and there are definitely not stories in police detectives on the job having a personal relationship with their partner.”

Take from that what you will. Of course, anything can happen on “Blue Bloods” yet seeing these two become a dating couple doesn’t look good.

Wahlberg has played Detective Danny Reagan from the first season’s first show. He’s been in the middle of a lot of activity, plus has shown up looking for favors from Assistant District Attorney Erin Reagan. Bridget Moynahan, who plays Erin Reagan, also has been around since Season 1.

Danny has been known to drop by Erin’s office and ask for a warrant around this or that issue. Erin, doing her best to maintain boundaries around family, has been known to give in to Danny’s wishes at times.

Wahlberg Encouraged Moynahan to Get on Show After She Passed on It

While Danny and Erin have their scenes on “Blue Bloods,” Moynahan actually took a pass on the show at first.

But Wahlberg believed she would be great for a role on it.

When he was interviewed in 2019 by Watch!, Wahlberg talked about his connection with Moynahan.

“We have a great friendship,” Wahlberg said. He also said they’d worked together when Wahlberg put together a pilot for a TV show in 2008.

“When the ‘Blue Bloods’ offer came along, I immediately called her,” he said. “I said, ‘You have to play the sister.'”

Again, she’d already passed on the show. Why? At the time, she was dating now-Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady. Plus she had no interest in traveling to Canada and filming a TV series.

“He will fight to do it in New York because he wants it to be authentic,” Wahlberg said of lead actor Tom Selleck. Moynahan agreed and has been with the show, too, since Day One.
