‘Blue Bloods’ Star Will Estes Expressed His Passion for ‘Sustainability’ Rather Than ‘Green or Eco-Friendly’

“Blue Bloods” actor Will Estes wants to look out for the environment in real, practical ways rather than halfway efforts.

Estes is known for his role as Sergeant Jamie Reagan, the youngest son of a family of New York cops on CBS’ hit crime drama. For more than 10 years, Estes’ character has explored the things that tie his family together and the way that affects their lives in the long run.

Speaking of the long run, the “Blue Bloods” star is apparently on board with preserving and conserving our planet’s resources for as long as possible. In a 2015 interview with Channel Guide Magazine, Estes revealed what his top three magazine picks would be at a magazine rack and why.

Sailing. And any magazine about motorcycles or anything on two wheels. And Mother Earth News,” Estes said. “I love technology and anything in the sustainability sector.”

Apparently, the “Blue Bloods” actor cares about the outdoors in a way that’s deeper than surface level. And he’s sick of companies and other organizations using so-called “catchphrases” to avoid taking responsibility for legitimate environmental issues.

“There are some catchphrases out there — green or eco-friendly — some have just become advertising tools,” Estes said. “The word I come back to is sustainability. If it is not sustainable, we cannot keep doing it.”

“Blue Bloods” Actor Will Estes’ History With Sustainability

It’s hard to imagine the sweet-cheeked Will Estes in any other field than acting and entertainment. But back in 2017, Taylor Magazine asked the “Blue Bloods” star what he would do if he wasn’t in the business. The first thing that came to mind was using his hands to make a difference environmentally.

“I love to build things. I went to college and took a class on solar panel installation and ended up working with the guys,” Estes said. “We put solar panels on my house in Los Angeles, and I have a pure electric car that I drive. So, not entirely, but in part my car’s driving off the sun right now. Maybe I would build things, I come from a family of entrepreneurs.”

But the “Blue Bloods” star did say that acting and being a presence in Hollywood has opened up doors to do his part in other ways.

“Acting allows me to do more than I possibly could. I do things, talk about things that allow me to sometimes donate to causes that I do,” Estes said.

Estes causes are very important to him. On his website, the actor promotes organizations including World Wildlife Fund, Natural Resources Defense Council, Heal the Bay, Best Friends Animal Society and Vote Solar. He chose these groups “because they’re consistent with his belief in advocating sustainability, wildland conservation, renewable energy, and humane treatment of animals.”
