Actor Will Estes plays Jamie Reagan the younger Reagan brother on the hit CBS series, “Blue Bloods.” In the show, Jamie Reagan plays a dedicated NYPD officer committed to upholding the law. In “Blue Bloods,” Jamie and his family are incredibly close, even meeting regularly for large family dinners.

For Estes, the values he sees in the Reagan family are similar to those with which he was raised. They are also the reason he never found trouble as a child star in Hollywood.

In a 2019 interview will Estes discussed how he believes being raised in Los Angeles helped him as a young actor. During the interview with the entertainment outlet “Liveabout,” Estes delved into his career as a child actor, including how he believed growing up around the industry helped lead him to success.

“Los Angeles can be a tough place, the industry can be tough,” Estes explained. “A lot of kids come out here after high school or college and they don’t have a home base.”

Even at a young age, the “Blue Bloods” star was aware that Hollywood can be a tough place for young actors. Some of these instances have become infamous. While some actors find challenges entering the business, others, like Estes have an easier time.

“I think it’s a place where values aren’t always clear,” Will Estes said of Los Angeles during the interview. “There’s a weird value set put on an actor based on whether or not you’re working.”

“Blue Bloods” Star Separates Acting From His Daily Life

In the interview, Estes went on to note that he believed the fact he lived in the area when he began acting helped him prepare for what was to come.

“I grew up here, so I had my friends and my family,” the “Blue Bloods” star told the outlet. Estes added that while he enjoyed acting, he was able to separate his daily life from the job.

“It (acting) was something I did, not who I was,” Estes explained.

Will Estes began his acting career at 11 years old. The actor played Will McCullough in “The New Lassie.”

In 2010, Estes was cast in “Blue Bloods,” where he plays the youngest son of New York City Police Commissioner, Frank Reagan (Tom Selleck).

Each member of the Reagan family works in law enforcement to some extent. Both his brothers became police officers. One of the brothers was killed in the line of duty prior to the hit-shows premiere. His other brother, Danny (Donnie Wahlberg) still works as a New York City detective. Jamie’s only sister, Erin (Bridget Moynahan) serves as the New York City Assistant District Attorney.
